Finally, finally, there is the absolutely legendary Mirror Man Sessions at the highest possible recording quality! Unfortunately, however, still on two CD's. The second part of the session is the remasterden "Safe As Milk" appended. Since everyone but real rock music fan, in conjunction with the "Mirror Man" on the shelf has (he has, right? !!!) Is not the grief of a real "Mirror-Man Session" double CD so big. In all rock music (he) -Kreisen applies the "Mirror Man" (next to the "Safe As Milk") to be extremely inspiring, trendsetting masterpiece. The is in itself nothing to add, except perhaps that of "non-operating" listeners surely must make once familiar with the Beefheart'schen interpretation of music. -That Is sometimes not easy, with this CD but certainly easier than with the later "Trout Mask Replica". But the heard here, very exciting and nuanced music requires focused and cooperative, sometimes much times listening before they unfold their (n) stimulus (e) and disclose. I know 'the "Mirror Man" for 30 years; and again and again impressed me on this disc's New! -That's The way it fascinating to Beefheart's music (and singing): Even after many years and a lot of times listening to this music reveals something new. A grouse here, rattling breath there, schrägst played harmonica riffs this side and on the toughest "scribed" bottleneck strings over there. You then hold still remember that all's Take, "Kandy Korn" exception, were recorded live in the studio! Absolutely insane improvisations that can not be beat in terms of voltage (and were never surpassed). We hear long, heavily embossed psychedelic blues-rock numbers like "Tarot Plane" have up to about 20 minutes in length! For all these ingenious Take's especially the outstanding pieces "25th Century Quaker", "Mirror Man" and "Kandy Korn" push to the fore. For this, the Dadaist-confusing, "stories" or set to music "Poems" as: "Trust Us", "Safe As Milk", "Gimme Dat Harp Boy" that moody playful (listen only times that, formally dueling, Lead - and rhythm guitars on !!!) "Moody Liz (Take 8)" and "Beetle Bones N 'Smoking Stones". In the latter the Captain "Strawberry Fields" is off on his own, highly ingenious and entertaining way. -Fantastisch! Captain Beefheart belongs unquestionably to the biggest musicians (not only the rock music that he influenced decisively, but in general!) Of the last century. -And The "Mirror Man" is as much indisputably the biggest milestones of rock music. One of the very few discs that can inspire again and again and would actually get six stars in the evaluation in order to define its true value can!
