Summer 1998. I was twelve years old, sitting in my parents' car and sinking into an empty daydream while I see pass out the side window, the lush meadows at me. The sun is high in the baby blue sky and burns incessantly. The window is wound down and the wind cools my hot face. From the speakers sounds Herwig Mitteregger's "From the silence". I remember it so well because I really liked this album. There were the witty, tough and intelligent lyrics. There were the by Herwig Mitteregger hand-established instruments. There were these song structures, which told stories. No monotony, as happened so much. I was overwhelmed positive. Four years later. Sturmfrei! I turned on my father's facility and heard "From the silence". I was a teenager. Mood swings, culture shock, life stories ... I wanted outstanding guitar riffs, listen hard drums and sophisticated German texts. "My Evelyn" and "Na-Nana-Na" rattled up and down the whole street. Then the quieter songs like "Better" or "Romeo" came. The beer and cigarettes tasted for the first time. There were the witty, tough and intelligent lyrics. I am twenty-four. Have my own apartment for four years. The first few weeks were exciting, then I noticed that something was missing. One year I was looking for until I "From the silence" bought. Herwig Mitteregger is a luminary. The album reflects the normal life again. "Some days," where you should remain lying rather, "man with hat" in the Audi ... who does not know this Schleicher? Each song an experience. Gradually I understand the instrumental structure, as happens so much. The lyrics are still meaningful, aptly and timeless, yet I am overwhelmed positive. Meanwhile, I am with you by Herwig. "My Way": And do not you think the beginning, want of everything you say ... "From the silence" is not an album, it is a feeling ... it is a significant part of my life. This is rock and roll!
