Leona Louise Lewis won on 16 December 2006, the third season of the British talent show The X Factor and thus received a recording contract with Sony BMG. Their first single "A Moment Like This" (A Kelly Clarkson Cover) was before it was clear that Lewis would win The X Factor reserved a million copies and reached a record of more than 50 000 downloads in 30 minutes. This was "A Moment Like This" the MOST DOWNLOADED song in 2006 in the UK. Just under a year, Lewis now focused on the recording of their debut album. In October 2007, then came up with "Bleeding Love", the first single of the work on the UK market, where it became the best-selling single of the year. The shortly after released album "Spirit" took soon took first place in the album charts and was for Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" the biggest selling album in 2007 in the UK. Now Lewis makes to conquer the German market. With success. Due to high demand, the date for the release of their first single, "Bleeding Love" has been brought forward. The song made it to first go to the top of the German single charts and also leads the airplay charts at. On January 25, now including the album "Spirit" also appears here in Germany and to the success story of the young Briton on. 13 songs have made it on the album. The beginning provides the song already mentioned "Bleeding Love", with the Lewis you can impressively proves. The value written by Ryan Tedder (One Republic) and Jesse McCartney song as a ballad fits nicely with Leona Lewis and provides a perfect introduction to their enormous skill. With "Whatever it Takes" followed by a pop-R & B song, which was even co-written by Lewis himself, and after severe "Bleeding Love" creates a soft transition. The following items are mostly half-ballads with catchy guarantee ("Better In Time") and a new representation Lewis great voice ("Homeless"). Interestingly, it is in again "I Will Be", which has already been picked up by Avril Lavigne and appears on the bonus version of her album "The Best Damn Thing". A direct comparison is there an interesting experience. This is followed by cheerful pop songs ("Angel"), R & B-Excursions ("I'm You") and a Roberta Flack-cover ("The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"). But best succeed always the ballads like "Here I Am" in which Lewis uses all her vocal power and even a bit reminiscent of the young Whitney Houston. One highlight follows the end again with "Footprints In The Sand", which was inspired by the poem "Footprints" and forms a more than successful conclusion. Unfortunately, Lewis's first single "A Moment Like This" is not on the German version of the album, what would have been another highlight of the album. With "Spirit" Leona Lewis provides therefore a very good album with many highlights, but also with some of mediocrity.
