The Wall Immersion Box (6 CDs, 1 DVD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Preliminary note: progress at the time of this review of "The Wall Immersion Box" (6 CDs, 1 DVD) Here the reviews on all versions of the album collected a, making it look as if there are more than 100 reviews for the box, with an average rating 4.5 stars. This ad-mix of related products from Amazon is sometimes appropriate, but often annoying, and in such a case as here this presentation is in my opinion almost unfair. So far there is hardly any case positive words about the immersion box - for good reason: it is not outstanding enough for your handsome price.

That Pink Floyd's 1979 epic masterpiece "The Wall" is a gorgeous classic a concept album, which earned its star - to be provided at this point than consensus. I'm not here to "The Wall" itself but only to the product "The Wall Immersion Box".

If the first two immersion boxes "Wish You Were Here" (2 CDs, 2 DVDs, 1 Blu-ray) and "Dark Side Of The Moon" (3 CDs, 2 DVDs, 1 Blu-ray) even with senseless Tand filled, so there is really for those fans who previously only knew the normal albums, duchaus new and interesting to discover exciting, especially the surround mixes. It was indeed already back even in the first two immersion boxes and torn between the enthusiasm for and of itself noble featuring solid box where then but little things were wrong, such as the four inserts for pieces of silver, the for the content but not at all sufficient, why then some discs but were in cardboard sleeves in the box ... but in the end prevailed in the two box sets the feeling that they have acquired a fine product with added value.

In "The Wall" unfortunately prevails initially feel that one has thrown too much money down the drain. The CD inserts on the bottom of the box are unchanged this time completely empty, flying all CDs in cardboard sleeves disdainfully through the box. Probably a consequence of problems with CDs that had come loose during transport. So consistently though, but the box does not appear well thought through such trifles and leaves an impression of haste, I do not want to have to win with such a high-priced product. The mandatory scarf that you are already familiar from the previous boxes marbles and Coasters - nobody needs it, hardly anyone disturb ... that's rubbish, over which one would ignore ashamed. Booklet and cards and Lyrics posters are nice, however, the small art print not as exhilarating as the first two immersion sets, but be nice again.

Above all, it's all but about the music. But just still missing the feeling of being able to indulge in abundance, but what you would have like want ... so that anyone who basically only has interest in the remaster of "The Wall", which disproportionately favorable The Wall Experience Edition (Digipack , remastered) (3 CDs) to heart is must that comes with a CD with demo versions in addition to the double-CD of the 2011 remasters - a selection of frames, which can be found in the immersion box on two CDs.

The CDs 5 and 6, there are the only previously unreleased pieces diesr Box: many - after all: a lot! - Partially ultrashort snippets that are partly very interesting, especially when they deviate significantly from the famous album - so it should be, and this results in such offerings sense and can work in a new light dip! Immersion at its best. Expect but please no sound sensations, it is, after all 33-year-old recordings of demo tapes or excerpts therefrom. For sound to my mind the Remaster surprisingly well, although it is not entirely without hum, noise and crackling.

Moreover, in the (fabulous in appearance, 100-euro) Immersion Box is no surround mix, like him other reviewers indeed already miss painfully, also is not about the famous film version something as DVD or Blu-Ray in what even provided would have been possible if also in the documentation on the DVD shows that would have been not in the interest of all artists :-).

What it still all so are all around this album, just not in this box ... that have other reviewers already written, I can only confirm and emphasize: the box is nice, but has despite all unreleased demo versions relatively little "The Wall Galore ". Why, for example, there is just to see a single one and a half minutes long live-neck on the DVD - apart from the cutouts in the - after all! - Over 50 minutes long documentation? Too bad, because the two live CDs worth listening to. The sound is mediocre, but the atmosphere naturally different than on the album. Hardcore fans will live recordings surely already know, but who so far only knew the original album, will find a worthwhile interpretation.

To cope something to put the Gemaule about the missing bonus fireworks: With the four additional CDs you can so at the end, of course, already dipping deeper into the work, as it would have been possible only with the original double LP.

But as much as if you were overwhelmed by the bonus additions: It is not sufficient completely. Sorry, Pink. Of course, the album is impressive enough without bonus spells. But it just goes also one of the "smaller" issues of "The Wall", that's the point.

In this box the high introductory price außergwöhnlich very strongly influenced the assessment, because the value for money is wrong. At half the price I would have liked to give it 5 stars, I will come spontaneously not more than three stars (ie: "not bad") addition.

Supplement from March 7: Just I see on Facebook advertising of whypinkfloyd: "!. Pink Floyd's masterpiece 'The Wall' in the new sound, an overwhelming sound experience is an absolute must, not only for fans"

What nonsense! With all due respect, with normal ears, under normal listening conditions between the new, the underlying Box Remaster from 2011 and the present to me for comparison - 18 years of age - CD version in 1994. difficult to notice!

In a flawless hi-fi environment but I have not yet compared, whether the new remaster earlier blends can add new nuances. I am pleased about this, comments by experts.
