For this album the British newcomer Lucy Rose I would have awarded a maximum of 3-4 star at the first hearing. It is but one of those who like me getting better and better with every listen. This is also due to the more complex song structures compared to similar artists of genre Folk / Singer / Songwriter. Several tempo changes and a high dynamic range in a number of pieces (Red Face, Lines, Place, Watch Over, bikes) alternate with the more quieter numbers (Night Bus, Middle of the Bed, Shiver, Scar, Little Brave, Gamble). Pieces such as Red Face Lines and spread of the rhythms produces a slightly jazzy flair.
Having Lucy now also experienced live, but 5 star is an absolute must for this likeable talented musician. Look and voice remind me immediately of Joni Mitchell in the 70s, but Lucy makes her independent Muskstil. Her calm voice draws a fascinating under the spell and make you feel really comfortable with that. The music is perfect for relaxing and for long winter evenings.
My Anspieltipps: Middle Of The Bed, Night Bus, Red Face, Do not You Worry, All I've Got
