I have my N97 now four days and could thoroughly test it.
First of all: I would not give up (unless there is a successor, that is even better in those areas that are important to me * gg *!) - However I believe, however, that the N97 is not the "panacea" for everyone is. For my user behavior it fits perfectly, but whom some areas are more or less important than me will be happier probably with another phone.
I bought the N97 only for one reason:
* Physical keyboard for Twitter and Facebook in combination with a good digital camera with flash
With all the mobile phone novelties these days you can find either one or the other, but rarely both together in a cell phone.
My Applications: First of all, a lot of written communication on the go - I have dozens of e-mails and tweets written in the last four days, but only two out calls (!). * Gg * Second Then comes the use as a digital camera replacement, which should also fix a pinch one or the other photo in rooms.
Here has been shown that when N97 combination between keyboard and camera with flash is the genius. Taken for each area still has room for improvement. The keyboard has a somewhat unfortunate layout - why is there a "ü" key, but all other special characters are transferred to other keys, but there was no place to take the clip directly into the keyboard, I do not understand. Smileys leads to write in emails because of a clip directly in a submenu. If habituation thing, but could be improved by acting on the keys a, o and u distributed and thus freihätte place, somewhere to place the clamp. The special characters definitely
The digital camera is "good", dissolves quickly, making even under difficult lighting conditions a good figure. But LED is now not even Xenon! My last phone was the non-smartphone Sony Ericsson C905 with impressive xenon flash.
Still, I'm very happy with the N97, because it covers my specific needs perfectly. In each category there are better devices in the market. Digital camera, for example, the Sony Ericsson C905, keyboard eg for HTC devices - yes, I think even better than Windows Mobile Symbian. But that's probably only because I have to get used to the menu after I had other phones by Nokia as a long time. The special quality of the N97 is but my opinion is that it brings together a number of "brave" functions in one device.
You have to enter for one or the other compromise, as the touch screen, which one sometimes has (to my mind) rather press to scroll; not quite as elegant as other current mobile phone models. With five or six open programs, it may also be that the camera does not work anymore (too much memory) and you have to close one application to a photo shoot can. But these are all getting used to things, for me they are personally not so bad and more than compensated for by a really good GPS that finds me so fast, like no other GPS previously and precisely the winning combination between keyboard and flash camera.
I hope I could help someone who is currently uncertain. From me there is no clear recommendation for the N97, but only for people who are looking for a "brave" communication genius who can become a loyal companion in everyday life, but in any area people accused of enthusiasm from the chair. :)
I like my N97. :)
Best Regards,
Stephan :)
