Quite early I used various shavers Braun brand, but shaved only wet for several years. Now I have bought back "to try out" times an electric razor. To avoid an expensive bad buy, if the dry shave not yet able to convince me again, it should first be an inexpensive device for now. In a rechargeable battery shaver I wanted to consciously forego because the batteries are often the main weakness of such devices. Because of the generally somewhat better reviews in Amazon brand comparison, I chose this time not on a shaver of the brand Braun, but the Philips Norelco 6940th To make it short: At the thoroughness of wet shaving of Philips HQ 6940 is not approach. While a wet shave with me sometimes holding two days are clear stubble after the morning dry shave with the Philips already evening again noticeably. The daily shaving is so so indispensable. But perhaps the more expensive Philips shaver can better and more thoroughly? This here HQ 6940 is equipped with the HQ 55 shaving head. By contrast, the higher-quality equipment of the HQ series have the HQ9 shaving head, to which, according to Philips, "even the shortest hairs" remove. A statement that promises a more thorough, so longer lasting shave. Whether that's true, I can not judge. However, Philips have omitted in the product description of the HQ here used, simple 55 shaving head expressly to that statement. But of course you can not expect the expensive Spitzenaussstattung at an inexpensive entry-level device. What convinced me for it even with this simple device the very low noise (no comparison to the loud hum of the Braun shaver that I still know) and skin compatibility. According to the manual skin irritations in the first 14 days can be normal until the skin becomes accustomed to the dry shaving. For me, these were, however, made up on a small spot on the neck almost, even the shaving himself did not feel uncomfortable from the outset. Almost, anyway. The only disadvantage is namely: With the three circular shearing blades it is relatively difficult to get the area above the upper lip to shave clean. I have several times, injuring the lower of the three shearing blades lip. Of course, never a drama, but every time a nasty little cut. Here, the shape of brown-razor but an advantage. Another note: The HQ 6940 has no battery and can be operated only with power plug (!). Anyone looking for a comparable Rechargeable Shaver, should take the HQ 6970. The cost is not much more - in my case it was even offered 10 euros cheaper. Conclusion: The Philips technology with the three rotary shear blades will total convinced me despite small drawbacks (see above) compared to Brown-oscillating head technology. And the present here Philips HQ 6940 shaver has a decent value for money. But: Who is sure to be happy with an electric shaver and who is not "just try it" wants, should consider whether it is not equal nor invest a few euros more, a Philips model with the better HQ9 shaving head to buy.
