So I made a title encoded on m4v to the speed test without stick. It was a consequence of a series that I was already brought to the AVI format. My iMac i5 2.8GHz Quad Mid2010 managed this 22 minutes resulted in an average of 85% 6min 32sek processor load on all 4 cores.
After that the same result with embroidery. Unfortunately, I realized that the Recodierzeit avi file has now lasted 7min 11sek. However, all 4 cores remained at approximately 25%.
Then I then tested the AVI file even with the supplied program in version 1.2. First I noticed that (as often mentioned here) that offers too few settings for me. So I left everything to Automatic to see what the result looks like. After 6min 55sek this was then also. First, I noticed that a 522MB MP4 was out of avi 322MB. For this purpose, the quality has deteriorated slightly. Here were all 4 cores at 25%.
Conclusion: The Elgato Turbo.264 HD had with me no turbo effect, rather the reverse. But the processor is protected. But honestly ... why I buy a Quad i5 2.8GHz, if I do not want to utilize this? Because the iMac has a fairly good cooling (CPU temperature never above 62 degrees), I will continue to let go of the CPU work and save me about 90 euros for the "Turbo".
This is probably really only for 2-core CPUs or the MacBooks really advantageous.
