'Rio Grande', sung by Michael Stipe and Courtney Love in a duet, you have to hear. That's great! Not all of the information gathered on this CD (more or less free) interpretations of old Seemanslieder are equally good, but these are unimportant matters of taste. Rogue's Gallery is a rich collection, the second part, the "Son of Rogue's Gallery" I like a little better than the first. And was a continuation essential if it has not been possible before, Shane McGowan, Tom Waits and Keith Richards to get into the studio - without this old warhorse half the battle was only paid (half Heuer ??). Curiously, nothing was received from this kind of music in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, in their third (and my favorite), there nevertheless was part of a particular song of the pirate brotherhood, that was not half as impressive as some of the Rouge's- Gallery discs. What would interest me is whether lover (s) of Shanty choirs à la Horst Köbbert can find access to these interpretations. Probably not, though I'm an exception: I had a child as a Shantychor plate among my favorites and had listening to the Rogue's Gallery plates one or two pleasant deja vu.
