Sound (****):
============
Great melodies, partly inspired by the original songs. The sound effects were polished, but probably added from SMB1 and SMB3. Total atmospheric and suitable to happen.
Graphics (*****):
===============
And then I still say someone 2D graphics will look no more! 1. sees the graphics in 2D class, because the characters were three-dimensional "polygonised" and fit well into the beautiful backgrounds and 2. there are always shiny zoom effects. Everything runs smooth as silk and was designed me a lot of care. The sales records speak for themselves, that not everything has to be in 3D, what fun!
Gameplay (*****):
================
In principle NSMB offers classic retro gameplay without large to make use of the stylus. This shows that you can see the NDS as the legitimate successor to the GBA and developed "classical concepts" that are not necessarily to swim to the "Touch-wave". Why not? The 2D Hüpferei has been staged grandiose, because the control is true, the level design of the SMB, SMB3 or SMW in nothing and there is plenty to explore! Only alone the somewhat meager innovations and acquired features of the predecessor are a bit unimaginative, but still expects an uncompromising platforming that hardly wishes open and is perfectly playable as a quasi-remake. What do they want more?
CONCLUSION:
======
NSMB is without a doubt the best NDS titles ever and represents a clear obligation to purchase including thick retro feeling. Perfectly presented Nintendo here a 2D title that abounds all 3D orgies in the world and shows that 2D-hopper can fascinate as well, as 15 years ago, as the platforming genre represented the pinnacle on any console. Summarizing a Pro / Contra List:
- Relatively few innovations
- Bosses sometimes a bit too simple
- Hardly use the touchpad
