I want to draw any comparisons with D'Angelo, because the sound is not the same. However, Ocean could the American RnB world with this album have done a great favor, because he manages to dispense almost entirely on features from the rap world. With Earl Sweatshirt (OFWGKTA) and Andre 3000 (Outkast) he has two very special guests selected, that enhance an already beautiful, sometimes very very quiet album yet. It is not easy to assess song by song, because each track has its own, uncomplicated sound and clear sound. Frank Ocean is that you can hear but clearly very keen to experiment, fluctuates between jazz, electro, synth-funk and RnB. In the past, he has already written songs for, inter alia, Brandy and John Legend, before he now itself points us his stories and takes us on his journey.
I have heard the album now several times (extra on the headphones!) And have to say that I have not heard anything like it long. This is probably an album for 'Grown Folks', I'm not sure whether this sound the younger generation necessarily entrains, or she feels, what comes across as. I think the album really well, listen for yourself a look!
