Ron Goodwin has recorded and released dozens of LPs, EPs and singles. According to many compilations (Sampler) there has been over the years - the original productions you could certainly soon no longer buy after their appearance. So that's just unfortunately (been). Now the Goodwin fan has the opportunity to meet two original LPs from 1959 and 1962, on a CD and at an affordable price, in the context of the EMI series "2-on-1". I am honest: A fan of oriental folklore I have never been! But an admirer of Ron Goodwin already. This has inevitably led me to buy this CD. And it was worth it. Although not a single title comes from the pen of the master (but mainly from the unknown to me "Rahbani Brothers"), and not a piece is where you sit up and could say: "That I know that!" Yes - what then? It is here the motto: eyes and ears - just check it out! The arrangements (all of Goodwin) are so outlandish not follow Western European ideals of that time. Here and there, of course, is already clear that the Orient should be set to music: Typical instruments are used, which would not offer a modern English orchestra the handset normally. 24 pieces in the finest quality stereo and digitally remastered. This is and has class. Well, the strings somehow sound very analog, "whole" not as with Mantovani and are technically sound impose total slightly. But so be it - that's the real thing! There is no doubt 5 star.
