This book contains EVERYTHING. Such a big catalog, this book "Wild" (not "survival" as they could understand some here) contains absolutely all the elements to do without the consumer society: housing, clothing, machinery, woodworking , hunting, fishing, sex (!), etc. But far from being a "Michelin of nature" for Robinson apprentices, this book has something extra, a kind of ode to wild life and a pacifist libertarianism to Henry David Thoreau. You can argue about the reliability of some information (actually, I have not tried to build my own home!) But their wealth is fairly good, and everything I know personally (first aid, medicine, marine knots, etc.) is correct and perfectly explained, thanks to a very precise text and many illustrations. As regards "the ideology of the author," it does nothing bothered me: although I do not share his vision of the world, I think it just gives its personality to this manual, and provides an even more curious touches to this book unconventional and ultra-complete. This book is a tribute to nature and great nests advice (I still can not believe it!) Which makes it indispensable and definitely rewarding. At required to have in his library, in my opinion!
