Customer Review

That never happened to me otherwise, although I read a lot and like to write reviews, but their own, for me otherwise always lacks the time, but in a highly controversial album once again one of my big exception bands I would like to speak now about my Vorrezenstenten sometimes.

I can all the negative reviews both here and again in the press (Rock Hard, etc.) no longer really understand (until "American Soldier" I could very well understand). Of course, I also have all Albums (former?) Hammer band know this by heart for years (some more, some less) and am like almost everyone believes that "Mindcrime" is her absolutely unattainable genius and all that which appeared after the mega "Promised Land" of the band against all predecessors was really disappointing. Well, since then with Chris DeGarmo an exceptional guitarist and also a decisive songwriter (see "Mindcrime" -Credits) got out, it was with the band really in a creative hole. Although there has never been an album where not a few (more or less) interesting songs were on it, but is that when a band like Q not nearly as an indictment? I do not dare to remember the musical sophistication of albums like "Mindcrime" and "Empire", but still does in the long run very much ...

As always there are to different opinions, so what is likely to remain in all Q-albums since the mid-90s and is also up to the end of the tape so. Nothing against experimentation but a lot of things that they were have delivered in the past 15 years just below the group level, regardless what causes whatsoever may have.

Cloudy, with "American Soldier" it was certainly a step in the right direction, although even this album a medal with a downside for me, but some of the songs on it are real enough had substance to hope. "So, on the next album!" it was just over 2 years ago, now it is so "Dedicated to Chaos", which has to face the mixed opinions of many people. Well, even my.

I must say I had somehow (even if one can rarely rely on something) in the announcements of the band somehow feel good and when the disk (of course in the extra-long Special Edition ;-)) finally at 24.06. had landed in my player, I was very pleasantly surprised how much creative juice still truly seems to stand in the kitchen of these gentlemen. First of all, comparisons with their Meiser plants are here disproportionate, but considering everything the group has done to their fans since the mid-90s, this album is still really a gift. Thank this album once again seems not to be "too hard" or not to guitar-heavy. Well, the once-brilliant guitar work (at times Mr. DeGarmo) is pretty much the most powerful in the music of Q (have been), but the people for good music only hard music is I say merely: "lie down with your stupid Slayer plates to the grave and goes to sleep ":-)

Q have never been the hardest, is not the main issue of prog-metal band but whatever. Back to album. Overall I would say, maybe not as wild as "AS" (positive) but for a long time contains a Q-album least back passages that remind that this band after all prog-metal (and not -Rock) plays!

Honestly, the comparison with the Tates 86s-work "Rage for Order" is not at all as far-fetched times. There, too, sounded the guys sometimes really fast, dark, keen to experiment a little (but still within the framework) and had to offer some strong numbers, and electronic elements, there were already at that time on a few songs to listen to. Similarly, it is also here. Although I the album only once (do not think the number I first tried against the recommendation of Mr. Tate without Headphones it) "open" is one I can well appreciate the album already.

Fact: no Q album took me to "PL" so "impressed" (in mass today, of course) as DTC and I was really happy, given the many missteps of the group in recent years by more than 70 minutes by which I've heard there. Clear key point of this album is definitely "At the Edge", this song is almost as ausgetüfftelt as the title track of "Promised Land". Many other songs have damn interesting passages, this record is really listening in the whole time back on a überdurcschnittlichem level, this album it is often because one will find much only at the later hearing. I am now looking forward, so for me DTC is absolutely the surprise of the year. Strong melodies, some great solos and stark tempo changes and a total of as many years no longer inspires. Kudos for the old guys!

Many people give off about quickly reviews (see my Vorrezenstenten) should give the album might again ne chance to unfold and often or intensively hear it, at least it has this drive does not deserve eternal einzustauben the shelf, to be here for a lot of songs on it, the really strong sound.

I hope the guys come finally back to Berlin and present themselves and the album live, which would now be the crowning glory after it was partly played with the idea to ignore the new releases of this group. Thank goodness I'm remained faithful, at least now I know that it was worth it. "On the next album!" ;-)

Conclusion: Who emphasis on musical creativity and music should not be judged by its hardness make of DTC his own image.

Because the album is not perfect, of course, but there is of me advisable deserved four stars!
