Graphics: 1+
Wonderful details and beautifully animated soldiers let a camera panning appear low over the battlefield like a samurai movie. Details Beautiful surroundings, amazing weather changes and strong colors, such as I have never experienced in a Total War game. Ok, the struggles of the soldiers act individually sometimes still a little uncoordinated, but the engine is just not ready yet. And what would it eat for resources, because I do not want to think first.
Fun: 1+
I have the game already about a year and the desire to gamble sparked almost a month and over again! Although the units always appear relatively similar, yet each brings something new Klan, own what you can then exploit. Whether you mercilessly falls now on the other forth, like a swarm of voracious insects, or rather politically correct with agents and trading shall inform the other chess-mat varies from clan to clan. A skill tree helps its agents and generals independently to specialize.
The enhanced DLCs coming by now many new units and a clan to which once more give the whole spice and go deeper into detail. Meanwhile, there are already the most beautiful expansion "Rise of the Samurai", which takes place several years before the big Sengoku Jidai-war of the main game and many new game modes brings. Soon then there's also "Fall of the Samurai", which plays in the 19th century and forms a beautiful finish with new powers and the last samurai ... and a very interesting new twist.
Multiplayer: 2 +
Ok, here I have to say that the note is pressed only because I am absolutely not a fan of Steam, the program needed to play. However, you can finally play full-blown campaigns with other friends and by the new drop-in battles, it is possible simply to bring in any single player campaigns there purely and simply time to take over the enemy army. Suddenly it was no longer so easy to defeat the single-player opponents. (Function for drop-in course issuable!)
Also, the avatar and veterans system is beautifully designed, in which to create his personal samurai General, with coats of arms, colors and armor and this then leads to the field.
The veterans then obtained from recruited standard units that have reinforced the fight and now provide new opportunities to specialize and to send them back into the fight. A clean implementation.
Music and Story: 1+
The music is inspired traditional Japanese drum music and blends very authentic to the game. From a story per se actually can not talk because you can decide for themselves how the story should run. Nevertheless, historical data as clans friendships are included in the calculation in the diplomacy and historical facts and figures are more common especially in the Encyclopedia distributed.
What speaks against Shogun 2:
- Steam duty. The Steam program must be installed and activated during play. Although the program updates and other functions supported very well (especially in multiplayer), but you could have done that differently. Who Steam already, which it should not bother you. Who's has not yet, is willy-nilly have to get used it.
- For beginners, it may be a bit confusing at the start, but it feels a after a while. But tutorial and encyclopedia help optimally.
- Otherwise, nothing! No, really, the game is great!
