Anathema embody both atmospheric doom metal and melancholic-soft indie rock and are in this combination just amazing.
The atmospheric density of the album is in particular due to the fact that the heavy guitars were pushed into the background and worked for amplified piano and string instruments. Everything happens with incredible ease. Indicative of this is equal to the gentle opener "Shroud Of False" which manages only with piano and voice - the voice of Vincent Cavanaugh goes here dirket under the skin.
But the other songs, especially "Fragile Dreams", "Empty", "Re-connect", "Inner Silence" and "feel" are particularly noteworthy, although so actually doing the other song illegally - all tracks are invariably worth listening to ,
