I have some time after a macro lens for my Canon EOS 500D searched. At the time of purchase I had next to my standard zoom, Tamron SP AF 17-50mm Di II VC lens 2.8 (image stabilized) for Canon still the Canon EF 50mm / 1.8 / II lens (52mm filter thread) and the Canon EF 85mm / 1.8 / USM lens (58mm filter thread). I now had a choice between this lens here or Tamron AF 90mm 2.8 Di Macro 1: 1 SP digital Lens for Canon. For the 90mm had spoken, that you do not have to get so close to the subject because of longer focal length and it would have been almost a suitable replacement for the 85mm lens, apart from the shutter times. The 60mm 2.0, however, would make the 50mm 1.8 lens more or less superfluous and provides a larger aperture. In the end I sold both 50- and 85mm lens and treated myself to the 60mm macro. 85mm was me for my hobby Portraits anyway too long and 60mm lens can also be misused as a wonderful portrait lens.
The image quality is top notch. Meanwhile, I have to capture the lens primarily on the body, the 17-50 seems to me actually it only if I do not have enough space with the 60mm lens everything. You just makes sharper and better images. You have to if the macros for very short focal length very close to the subjects right but, particularly when it comes to insects and other small items. This can be especially bad hose near the floor. The autofocus is not the fastest, but generally I use for macro shots rarely because he anfokussiert not right, especially for small motifs or other points.
For the money, here you can buy an absolutely brilliant and pin sharp lens, with each macro friend will have great fun. Full marks.
