In fact, the Smart Auto function is rather sub-optimal. Too fast is this the camera to high-ASA values and the exposure is not always successful.
My recommendation: Use the Program mode!
I use the camera in "Program mode", I force 100 or 200 ASA. Depending on the subject contrast (even in backlight) I turn ACB on or off. When then controlled depending on the subject consistently with "exposure" of 'spot' to 'center' or 'multi' by hand, the camera takes fairly good pictures consistently.
But are critical flash continuously at full optical zoom. There unfortunately artifacts and Verrauschungen and other tangled structures. Lightning Photos in position Wide contrast are neat, but one should note the instructions in the note: A maximum of 2 meters. Illuminate larger spaces does not work really.
Mode "Camera-shake protection" I've forgotten a precaution. Unfortunately, you can not turn off the digital zoom so that you can quickly get into the pointless digital domain from the optical zoom range.
The optical resolution of 10 Mpix match in compare with other my cameras an average (larger) 8-9 MPix camera. At halfway good lighting and use of the above evidence, the photos are well used and even superior to some better phone cameras.
Macro shots are good.
I keep the camera and had made friends with her .....
