Go West Young Man (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Michael W. Smith is a Christian musician who could retract some success, especially in the US. Here its spectrum ranges over jazz bishin to the classic West Coast rock. Especially "Go West Young Man" (at the same time be commercially successful album) provides for fans of Chicago and Toto a collection of good and catchy AOR / Westcoast songs. The opener and title track at the same time convinced by harmonious vocals structures and a grooving drum run - also here to do a very common earworm which is not so easy to get rid.
Love Crusade comes as a bit more rock and not quite catchy therefore, but is very well done anyway. Place In This World is a very great ballad that could perfectly fit on the CD "17" of Chicago. For You offers a loose fluffy pop song, while How Long Will Be Too Long as semi-ballad comes along that stands out above all by a great gospel choir forth.
Seed To Sow reminds me personally greatly to the opener of the Disney film "Lilo & Stitch" - and for me the stäkste song on the CD, a catchy tune, which is washed and once here again uses the chorus (this time a children's choir) has the song the listener already caught.
Unfortunately Cross My Hart then drops something and can not convince me, even Emily is just plain boring. Agnus Dei is of course a traditional prayer, what Michael W. Smith has pressed into a song. The wiederrum is very bombastic and slowly builds up.
Conclusion: Apart from two songs, the CD really any fan of the good old West Coast sound in the wake of Chicago and also inspire Christopher Cross - if you do get still somehow - BUY!
