This year I make a return to Albert Camus. I started with "Exile and the Kingdom" (replay), and then I continued by reading the masterpiece "The first man".
This week, I decided instead to reread "The stranger" to listen to the CD version read by Albert Camus himself (in 1954). That's what I did, by car, in my daily commuting (1h15 per day).
What magic to rediscover this extraordinary text by the voice of its creator !!! A moment of magic and emotion. I have not seen pass these trips (and I even found too short ...). The final scene with the priest gave me the tears in your eyes ...
In terms of understanding the character Meursault, I have also made much progress after 25 years. I also feel much better grasp what Camus wanted to express and what it wanted to leave as part of mystery.
And "maturity" helping, I can agree to include the same character if it is not me 100% friendly.
