Super fast delivery of the product (1 day) with a leaflet in French sent directly from the manufacturer. And this proves very useful for those who have never used such a product. The RAVPower 5 in 1 comes with a USB cable for charging. It is quite lightweight (136g), but its plastic finish unfortunately leaves fingerprints. The housing also has a tendency to be heated a little after a few minutes of use.

We must first clarify that this is not a hard disk even if it has the appearance (of a 2.5-inch external). It does not allow to place a file. It just serves as a forum, centralized server, like a NAS. Before you start using it, a small executable one is forced to download from the manufacturer's site to their computer or the application for its tablet or smartphone. This is essential. Once completed these steps, you must supply the RAVPOwer by inserting an external hard drive, USB drive via its USB port or SD card. Then it lights up and selecting its new wifi network FileHub. We must then return the default code on first use (11111111). We can then launch the application on PC and / or tablet and / or smartphone and access files on the media introduced into the housing. The advantage is that several people can simultaneously access. Someone can for example watch a streaming movie selected on the hard disk / USB / SD Card while someone else choose another and another person look it your latest vacation photos. The housing and supports 5 simultaneous connections. For my part, I tested with 2 shelves and a PC and it worked perfectly. Optionally, you can either watch or listen to a streaming file or download it on its support and enjoy at leisure later or, conversely, to bring your own documents. Exchanges operate in 2 directions.

On the software side, I found that Android a bit austere at first but you get done quickly. Only concern, we can not copy a folder directly. We must go in, select all files (you can do it with a single click) and then copy. It's a shame and it spoils the transfer facility. However, in the setting buttons, the internet access you can register to be able to both use his case turned into NAS and since the first internet connection replaces your wifi connection and therefore cut your internet connection. Once completed stage, more concern. And we can then come back without having to worry about these steps that remain in memory.
This sub PC disturbed me more because I find most complicated at first and above all more restrictive. He launched a web page and offers to view a photo in a new tab, for example. Above all, I was not able to select to copy the file to my hard drive or even a selection of photos but had to download one by one the desired files. Then I noticed that instead of one could log directly through My Storage, and have direct access to its files in a conventional manner. In short, I prefer this solution seems far better because the PC then recognizes the new item as if it were directly connected to the PC. Then copy and paste function perfectly even for entire folders. By cons, to access it, Windows asks for a login and a password that easily bypasses (renter admin for login without a password and confirm to those without special session).

Transfer rates vary depending on the inserted object. Some video files have about 30 seconds to start, while others have started instantly. Copy a 700 MB movie is copied to my PC in just over 3 minutes from a hard disk while another has 4 min from a USB stick on a tablet. It's a bit slower than a conventional transfer but it is reasonable.

Best of all, you can also recharge a phone with the case which have a 1A output and a battery of 3000 mAh. So we can use NAS while charging the phone. The output of 1A can also be used for access to a self-powered external hard drive that will draw its energy on the housing (not tested).

This all in one satisfies me and is very convenient to unload photos on other media (eg USB) drive or launch videos. It also avoids having to copy X copies a file for a simple way to be able to view or listen to it on another medium. However, the inability to copy an entire folder directly tablet costing him a star. I hope a SHIFT to fix this problem because it is embarrassing to have to copy all the files in a folder and then create a new folder to accommodate them. A simple copy and paste would be much simpler. That said, to circumvent the restriction devices without SD slot, it is a very effective solution to access their device without wires. I adhere to the system and I would definitely recommend this one to people while looking for a very discreet nomadic NAS.
