SERVICE
+ The scale comes inclusive one coin cell battery; the battery compartment is on the underside of the balance and can be opened easily and without much Frickelei.
+ The display of the balance is large and clear to read, only for shortcuts on the measured values do I have personally to squint a bit.
+ There are 10 user memory locations; Programming is easy and intuitive, and can also be done without a manual. The manual itself explains the steps but also clearly understood so that there should be no difficulties during commissioning.
+ The scale can also be used without creating a profile, simply to weigh yourself only. Simply activate by stepping on the surface, it places finished.
- The controls are mounted on the head side of the scales below the glass surface - to service one must therefore either bend or highly remove the balance. My old scale had the corresponding elements of the display and was thus also be operated with your feet. For most of the potential buyers, the positioning of the controls should not be a problem though, but who has trouble bending over, should perhaps look for a balance that allows the operation via foot.
MEASUREMENT ACCURACY
+ As for the pure measuring the weight, the balance is excellent and accurately measures to 100g. I have tested the scale in comparison with a freshly calibrated scales and could not detect any difference.
o As for measuring the values of body fat, muscle and water, this scale - like most other body fat scales - not useless, but with caution. There are reasons that doctors to determine the body fat usually do not use the body fat scale, but another method: The measuring accuracy is rather low and prone to failure, and both BMI and body fat and water content are subject to considerable fluctuation, for example if the skin wet or dry titles, or bladder is full or empty as the last weight transition. It really is recommended for tracking changes therefore, to look for a fixed weighing time - for example in the morning after going to the toilet and before showering.
o Furthermore, the flow at this scale is guided only by walking on foot - is to say: The measurements are made only hüftabwärts, everything about it is estimated on the basis of size and antiquity genders. For people who start primary hip and thighs, the scale therefore creates a more negative image than for people who are more likely to attach to stomach, back and arms.
Nevertheless, the measured values are but of course not sinnfrei: Who now begins for example with sports to lose weight, will reach a plateau under circumstances in the first few weeks, at which the total weight does not do too much. Then to be able to see that change the values of body fat and muscle ratio - whether it to the letter are now exactly! - Is really quite a motivation helper.
CONCLUSION:
Despite all the (justified) criticism of foot-to-foot body fat scales, I feel it in general as a good motivator in weight loss - because if one keeps in mind that working with estimated values above the hip. If you want more accurate values, should look for a body fat scale with hand parts, but the margin of error of body fat and water content remains as exist in different conditions. For starters, I feel the Beurer BG 13 with respect to measuring accuracy of body weight, ease of use and price / performance ratio as highly recommended.
