Martyr (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"Martyr" is an outtake from the last album "Playing the Angel". And the song on this album should have been heard because he is really good.

But instead "Martyr" is used as a springboard for a completely unnecessary best-of album. In addition, the inclined DM-blind buyers will naturally asked to Checkout's with the obligatory Maxi-CD.

As with all four "PTA" -Auskopplungen, three pieces of silver will once offered: a single CD, a maxi-CD and a DVD with video and additional audio tracks.

That was in the eighties, in principle even so, only time there was the vinyl single, the Vinyl Maxi and in 1983 the second limited vinyl maxi. Eventually came the additional Maxi-CD's, the buyer could opt for either the digital or analog recordings, because the musical material was identical.

However, the fan must nowadays even deeper into their pockets than before, because the vinyl releases gibt's (thankfully) still, only that the material no longer complies with the pieces of silver: In the black discs are only a few tracks on the CD's or . DVD's contain, for the listener vinyl-specific material is offered. So the complete collector must also access here! And he must not forget to download the exclusive remixes from iTunes and Co. down ...

When I finally checked my shopping list, I note that today nothing more is the same again! At that time I love to spent my money for DM-Maxis, it was almost a feast to devour the new material! How often have I heard the legendary "Extended Versions" ... Also, I was fascinated by the more experimental remixes, but the foreign-mixers have had (or Alan Wilder himself) a knack for not destroying the song, but it with new momentum to give.

At that time, Depeche Mode was just still there, where "Depeche Mode" it was!

But now I spend my money on remixes that have absolutely nothing to do with the original tracks and do not sound nearly by Depeche Mode!

And this Maxi-CD shoots from in this regard the bird. As remixers make a little boom-boom, let cheap Sequenzerläufe of their VST synthesizers down noodles, fit a few quick short original samples in terms of tempo and key to the own musical effusion, and ready is the new Depeche Mode track ... who has completely nothing to do with Depeche Mode! Only the name is still on the cover. A clear case of false labeling ...

And in the Downloads also agrees not even the sound quality. Because on the one hand discussed the sound of DM remasters, DTS sound tracks, and the like, on the other hand gives you money for biting MP3's from ... Is this the future? That scares me ...

Since the like "faithful devotee" unsure ask why I fool ever buy me this music, if I find it so terrible ...

Well, with the DM-collecting it behaves like smoking: It's hard to stop ... But publications like these help the withdrawal!

In my case it is a 23 year old habit ...

But then comes the next (hopefully again) excellent album and leaves you wanting more ... And then everything will be bought, where "Depeche Mode" is on it ... Hope dies last known.

As I said earlier, the Maxis have turned to excess on my platter. Today, I sort them by one to four times listening in my collection a. And since they are then ...

I feel now like a stamp collector ...

It must of course not what they used to be, the eighties are just long gone. I think it is in principle also great that young musicians has the honor to perpetuate themselves on DM-Maxis in the form of remixes. But the level has to rise strongly again, the depth has been reached! Most current remixers have this honor simply does not deserve! A few exceptions to the rule.

The tape provides excellent base material. The remixers commissioned should sensitively seize this opportunity to let their ego trip instead run wild.

The DM-Remixes drifting into irrelevance. Before, I would niemlas thought that I would sometimes get something like this on the lips ...

I'm in the soul hurt when I in my mind Daniel Miller (Mute Records) and Baron Jonathan Kessler (Management), rubbing his hands look when they cry out: "A lot of money, a load of money ... Tons of Money ! "

All complete collectors have probably already purchased this Maxi-CD. The DM-chance buyers should this certainly not spend their money.

They also do not have to buy the DVD. The video is only, indeed made a collage of old video clips quite interesting, but not particularly exciting. The band was probably the turning of a real video clips no time ... The two additional audio tracks are annoying!

The two-track single-CD is a much much better: The original version is great, and also the "Booka Shade Full Vocal Mix Edit" is quite ok.
