This is a first book that i almost never read. I'm not a fan of unquestionable Mary Balogh: either jaime much his books, or I mennuie, this is all or nothing. And when the novel came out, I saw pass before my eyes a few negative reviews and i seriously hesitated dentamer reading. Two things that finally I lai read: curiosity because the theme "club of survivors" much much tempted me and I found myself in weekend without another book to read in my luggage
And finally, I do not regret my reading. I really enjoyed myself, especially in the first part of the book. Cétait soft, slight, cool, funny, a very sweet marshmallow that made me feel good. A real treat. For cons, I found the second half a little bit longer, I was less passionate, less onboard, which is a shame.
The Survivors Club really convinced me, I have loved seeing these former soldiers long after continuing to recover from their physical injuries (they Nont not spared by Mary Balogh poor) but above all, psychological. These are perhaps ultimately the most difficult to heal. These men (and woman) who gradually accept their pain but not much to live for narrêtent. Quite the contrary. They nhésitent not to make fun of themselves nicely, of others, but above all, they are there for each other, to stick together, even sils do not see more than once a year. They are always ready to sentraider. One thing is certain, I am eager to know more detail our other survivors.
Now about the two main characters. How not to fall for Hugo, recently became Lord Trentham reward for his military exploits but is struggling to laccepter. Income without serious injury of the war, he was nevertheless deeply marked, the survivor guilt gnawing. Enough premium shadow first, not very friendly either, he wonders how he will find a woman who wants to marry him (especially that he does not feel the ability to support a young debutante). It was then that Fate will put him between the legs Gwendoline.
Gwendoline, early thirties, widow, despite all she said, struggling to recover from the death of her husband. Gwendoline that is not a total unknown: this is the sister Kit dA night Saimer hero and heroine of cousin Lauren prequel The great summer of Lauren (dailleurs we recroisons few heroes of the saga of Bedwyn!). Gwendoline changing debutantes frightened young virgin (which often ultimately are not really) and offers us a heroine strong and courageous woman who has her life.
They are a very nice couple both. A couple who learn to know slowly, no immediate thunderbolt but a feeling that grows slowly in contact apart from one another. I really loved the first part.
The second part, the return to reality, is it a little longer. It ends well between the two, there is a dip, some unnecessary trips during which I got a bit bored, which is a shame but I havent been so surprised that much, it marrive occasionally and with Mary Balogh I know what lattendre now: cute stories, all sweet, sensitive but during which he may find marrivez long time.
Now I will read mempresser Volume 2 mattend who wisely in my battery to Watch: A surprise wedding, Vincent Hunt, one of my most survivors who typed in the eye
Chevillment Yours,
