In the course of my review I would like to mention the News and prove this. After waiting 12 previously unknown recordings and the now complete Freddie King Session on the handset. All albums were allegedly beyond subjected to remaster, the highlight is an audio Blue Ray.
For formals: Give me strength comes in a hybrid of DINA4 / letter size with about 50 pages. The discs are placed at the end of the booklet in depressions, no plastic had to be processed here. The buyer is looking forward to numerous explanations about the albums and very detailed information about the record (Participating musicians etc.). Appealing photos Clapton are also available. In the additional information about the albums to date publications are also listed, so the listener can already check their own Clapton catalog on already brought out songs.
461 Ocean Boulevard has a total of 18 titles. The 8 session outtakes were partly already published. The completed but unpublished follow the overall style of the album. Unmistakably the influence of JJ. Cale, strictly speaking, represent the two songs Getting Acquainted 1 + 2 10 minute jam, so without vocals. Boredom is not that musicians throw in the best mood to play your solos. The Remasterversion pleased after multiple listening particularly by recordings of acoustic guitars. Every nuance is audible dynamics are wonderful balanced.
Shortly after 461 was followed by the panel There's one in very crowd. Blues is also here in the program, but what Clapton has taken a year earlier with Bob Marley is here continued: In studying the liner notes, I had to smile at an additive which also brings the Session Takes Out of this album in a nutshell Let the Reggae things so therefore play if we are in Tulsa. The explanatory notes also the fact is indicated that the fast release of the album is also due to something the record company, but Clapton RECOURSE faithful to his new style. Verbatim backing band around Carl Radle (bass) and Jamie Oldacker (Drums) underline Clapton's decision. The Remaster produces (unfortunately) no new sound wonder the entire listening experience affects at least to me something fresh and tangy.
The live album EC was here was taken in the period between the two albums, published as part of the US tour in 1974, but not until 1975. Here come more positive news. Especially when using the second voice of Yvonne Elliman, who accompanied Clapton as a singer, a real leap in quality comes with the new mix to days. Elliman also shines as a duet partner on Little Wing, the first of 4 unreleased songs. The other three are not unknown (Crossroads, I Shot The Sheriff, Layla). With the Cream version this variation has nothing in common, Clapton plays the number consistently in Tulsa style, this delayed with easy beats. Something closer to the Derek & Dominos Layla work comes therefore, but much faster than the already quite feverish original version. The live recording was too large for a CD, the listener gets here two discs offer. All 'the other items are known and published. While listening to the two CDs, I realize how good the vocal performance by Clapton in the recordings this time. This is for me represents the further development of Cream, Blind Faith and towards the Domino Recording. Here Clapton grows to complete musician who achieved a harmonious blend in terms of composition, singing, rhythm and guitar work.
Friends of the 12 stroke engine are very happy about the now finite entire session with Freddie King (CD No. 5) Here is particularly the over 20-minute Gambling Blues call. Clapton and King throwing Although not mutually the gauntlet, but each musician pulls out all the stops here and it is a real summit. King with a very consumed guitar sound of his Gibson, Clapton chooses his Stratocaster and plays much Bottleneck / Slide. After about 6 minutes, the two have played warm and King also provides the vocals then another highlight from. One can discuss endlessly about the guitar playing of the 3 Kings, singing Freddie is my opinion BB King and Albert King streets ahead. The voice has strong elements shouter with a lot of soul.
Listeners with a system that also Blue Ray Audio processed and reproduces rejoice then on the sixth disc. Here the two studio album were once again summarized and included in Surround Mix. The course also misled a little experiments and so I have also courageously times upregulated the subwoofer. The various possibilities of audio playback with this equipment every listener will have their own preferences. I find the sound experience very consistent.
Conclusion: collectors and fans save yourself in this compilation of one or the other going to the facility to play from your inventory the various publications. I personally like to hear almost 2 hours of music especially the fact of the 461 session. Correct score does the package especially for the Live CD and yet some real new versions of popular hits. The Blue Ray represents the end of today's technical possibilities in order to increase an existing well received yet. But: Another Re / Re-release of this package is no longer needed. I do not think that this may still increase. The package has the Winter 2013 several competitors, including the Album Rock of Ages by The Band. Here Clapton scores present work with a better price / performance ratio and a truly more.
