IPS GLOW
Yes, the monitor has a pretty strong IPS Glow. IPS Glow occurs in IPS panels with coating (The 34UM95 has a matte coating). The stronger the coating, the stronger the GLOW, which is perceived by the human eye as a yellow light-emitting surface on a black background.
My appointed in March 2015 copy has the Glow also, in the corners, especially - is in the lower left corner perceptible - as other reviewers also.
This Glow falls during normal operation (Office, surfing) not on, but is in a darkened room while looking videos clearly visible. But he is far nowhere near as strong, as shown on some (overexposed) images here. With appropriate overexposure I can foresee a Glow or illumination weakness in pretty much any modern monitor. Therefore, I have a few overexposed pictures set, showing the glow stronger than can perceive him to the human eye. The darker image (without overexposing) the series will show the monitor with a black background in a darkened environment, as it comes closest to the human perception. Visible a slight glow, as a yellow shade in particular in the corner is bottom left perceptible, which strikes only content with a black background and not so exaggerated strong as is sometimes shown here.
PBP mode
The PBP mode is used to play back 2 sources in parallel on the monitor. This would be a PC on the left and a Fire TV or Playstation 3 via HDMI on the right side. That sounds practical, but does not work in this constellation. With simultaneous playback of PC and second source, the PC screen is extremely bruised. It would have to be precisely adapted to the native resolution 1/2, namely 1720x720. This resolution does not provide me well-known software and after I Googled a bit, others are on the problem probably already failed. The PBP mode is based on my experience so far not available. I ask who has a solution to this to write in the comments.
Screen Split
Screen Split is software from LG, the arranging of windows and comfortable allowing browsers on the screen. The software is absolutely awesome and allows the individual to set up and organize a work environment. There is the option to choose from pre-defined configurations, you can these lines then as well move it past easily. Even rearranging the window is not a problem. What possibilities of arrangement there is, I will show in the gallery.
Very important: The Software Screen Split unfortunately is not with the connection via DisplayPort cable clear, this is also so on the manufacturing side. Although the software will start the first time, but once the monitor even goes standby or off manually is crasht Screen Split and can not be manually restart again. Therefore, the operation is then required via HDMI cable when Split Screen is used.
Ergonomics
Unfortunately, the monitor does not have any really good ergonomics despite the orientation towards professional users. The monitor stand can only be in 2 stages, which are only a few centimeters apart, fixed. A height adjustment is not possible, only the inclination can be adjusted.
Although the monitor looks so pretty on the desk, but - especially for taller people - in the rarest case at the correct height. In order to circumvent the problem you look at yourself in a monitor stand VESA 100 standard install (Full Ergonomic feet of brand manufacturers in VESA 100 format there for little money eg in the bay) or to use a monitor increase. I opted for the latter option and put the monitor on a monitor Zalmann DS1000 increase aluminum. Here I used the lower screws at base of LG 34UM95 what the perfect height is with me.
Gaming with the PS3
Something I was disappointed with the display content when connecting a Playstation 3. In the native resolution of the PS3 (1920x1080) the image due to the enormous resolution of the screen is shown as a small box. If the image is stretched to full screen, it looks again blurred or out of focus. For me, this is not an option and the PS3 looks at a conventional Full HD LCD significantly better.
Miscellaneous and Conclusion
LG has with this monitor in 21: 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels created an absolute novelty in the market, which so far is available in this form only by a few other manufacturers (... probably refer the Panel of LG). The design and workmanship is impeccable in every detail. To monitor the power supply also works incl. Absolutely noiseless.
Of particular note is the excellent display, which convinces with an enormous resolution, an enormous sharpness and crisp colors. I add at once a few pictures of this review, which should demonstrate the sharpness and colourfulness when viewing the paintings (Source of photos / wallpaper on the photos I write in the comments).
Criticism is to be noted with regard to the IPS Glows. My previous 27 "monitor from Eizo had this not in this form. If you want to enjoy the advantages of this monitor must accept this shortcoming. Also incomprehensible that LG adheres to its fashionable feet, even if an ergonomic stand is expected to increase production costs barely higher. After all, in the follow-up monitors ("Curve") ergonomic feet are already offered.
The price is still relatively high, although it was even higher last year, but this product is through the innovation position justified in my opinion. Who a screen in 21: 9 this size needs and seeks, is here can not make a bow around it. In practice, I have not regretted the purchase for a second, even the switch from 27 "WQHD (2560x1440) brings enormous benefits when working, because you finally have the space in width, the one needs.
I forgive overall good 4 star for this monitor and speak in consideration of the above mentioned points into a definitive purchase recommendation.
