The purpose of this work is the comparison of the design of capitalism in Christian societies, focusing especially on different conceptions of the place of business in the role in society according to the trends of the various branches of the Reformation Lutheran , Calvinists, Anabaptists, Quakers, American sects ... etc. The comparison particularly with the Catholics on the use of wealth, instead of economic man in society shows how certain tendencies to asceticism in a particular direction (not on a design "out of the world" but intramundane and accepting the riches provided to make a right use) allowed a faster and more radical emergence of capitalism in some countries and regions.
This book is a specialist book but also a true reflection on the place of trade and wealth in the design of the company and many advanced features that may appear from the outside as contradictions. However, the subtleties that distinguish certain trends Reformed seemed obscure and difficult to me. The book marked the sociology and social conception of the economy in its time and is still a reference today.
This enhanced edition very (too) many comments and annexes is intended for specialists or students. A simpler edition will suffice for the curious and amateurs.
