From GoPal to TomTom

As the title can be seen, I have a device the GoPal to date - used series and will therefore able to obtain no internal TomTom comparison! Therefore, I will not judge any omitted functions or other eventual compromise to a previous model of the brand!
First I notice that any gimmicks such as playing MP3s or photos have been omitted, which I support, because I prefer a car radio for erstgenanntes and the latter is for me the drive is not needed.
Therefore, I can also simply focus on the function of navigating and assess this and let og ignore! Because solely for these devices were initially developed actually time to replace the good old road map!

What stands out positively

+ Very fast route calculation (compared to my GoPal)
+ HD Traffic
+ IQ Routes
+ The fluid display
+ Extensive maps
+ Clear and precise instructions even with difficult road (I could tell you amazing things there, got there with the GoPal horrible experience when I made at a roundabout with 3 exits which should take sixth z. B.)
+ Magnetic holder
+ Very fast positioning after switching
+ Extremely good voice instructions (when GoPal breaks an aunt letters formally over pants with more complicated street names)
(Also because my old always a turning maneuver existed before there once a replacement route has been discussed, even when missed motorway exits and on, by guardrails separate lanes of trunk roads - no kidding) + very fast recalculation for failure to comply with the trendy travel route

What affected me peripherally

What might seam

- No automatic day / night switching
- Battery indicator appears only shortly before total discharge
- No pen (but works surprisingly well despite the large fingers without)
- TMC with charging cable
- No manual
- No SD - card slot
- No EPT
- No Itinerary Planning

Noteworthy is the fact that I am sitting at the computer level, and write this review, the TomTom beside me turned on lying on the table but the opinion is that we are just at a rate fluctuating between 8 - 13 move km / h! I am, after all come a long way already 3 streets, without moving noticeably! What magical moment!

Conclusion: Compared with my GoPal the TomTom cuts clearly better. Therefore, I have not regretted the change! For 4 stars! But as I previously also a bit've literate than previous models, I can understand the critical reviews here very well! If the price of equipment rises to device or stagnant and the scope of use is dwindling and the well-known features are pruned more and more, this is certainly the wrong way and you will probably scare the long-established clientele in the short or long!
