Customer Review

As you probably know as a reader of this review due to the previous, much about the good and the bad sides of the C5, I would like to report on some of the functions, options and purchase decisions hereby more. Should thus serve more as a supplement rather than an independent review.

--- Introduction:
My HTC Touch Diamond (Smartphone) had recent ski not quite survived, so it was time for something new.
On this occasion I wanted to get away from the touchscreen smartphone concept as it has now arrived with Iphone and Co. fully in all layers. It has virtually a computer in your pocket and is the frequent number of functions mobile 'not quite unattached! For where the technique of dual-core and high-end AMOLED displays is reaching its limits, is the battery capacity. Fast load every day, I always went, despite the variety of functions on your nerves. Completely without a 'App primary care' and though I did not even GPS.

After some searching, I arrived at the Nokia C5. Optical 'Back to the roots' and 119 at first glance does not come cheap! After some hesitation then ordered and received very quickly.

--- The first start:
It comes with: charger, headset, 2GB microSD, data cable and manual. Sim pure, load and off we went. If you want to exploit the possibilities of the device, you should download the Nokia PC Suite. Without this it is still cumbersome and install apps further.
With the suite, you can: Mark contacts, install Apps Sync and manage the OVIMaps-Navi. The first time you sync operation, the program installs several updates on your phone. After that you can start but. Contacts are transferred from Outlook, including the profile photos that can be selected in the start screen as a 'slideshow'.

--- Apps:
While running on the Symbian device, you can still install some important apps. This one gets asked a range of functions available, the absolutely sufficient me. Via the Ovi Store (google) and the selection of the C5 as a unit, can be look at each in advance which programs are available. At this point I would like to mention some:

-Vorinstalliert Are: Twitter, Facebook, Hi5, Youtube, Friendster and Myspace 'I do not want to describe in more detail, however.

Mir was 'Whatsapp' important that has the SMS transmission replaced in my circle of friends about 60%. Assuming you have a flat (Simyo: 100MB for 4.99 - after throttling GPRS) you can send messages for free - in the form of a chat. Whatsapp uses for the internal (previously synchronized) Phonebook. Based on the cell phone numbers, Whatsapp examined the chat contacts that can be written out. Works perfectly, even if you look via 'T9' only must again get used to the touch!

-Danach 'WebSMS-end'. This allows you to (ordinary) send SMS via GMX or O2. Since I have a PROaccount of GMX, me there are 50 free SMS. Converted 6 cents per SMS. In addition, you get IMAP for e-mail and is entirely advertising-free travel. The recipient as an SMS, gets my normal mobile number as the sender to see (configurable)! For me, the Pro account is alone worth while because of the 50 free SMS that can be sent to other countries, and also via the PC. Fax and 5GB of online storage are also available in my eyes.

-'SimyoSync 'Synchronizes calendar, contacts and tasks (via UMTS). These are deposited on a Simyo server (on for not Simyo customers). You get a tool even for the C5. So I have all the entries on 4 devices (WindowsPCs, Android tablet) always up to date.

-ovi Maps: A full offline navigation with worldwide maps. This justifies the price in my opinion. The 'Maps' to date and easy to install without any detours and additional costs on your phone. Alone the display restricts something a (small). Thus, good eyes here are a prerequisite. The menu and the target search are a bit strange, but precise navigation for both pedestrians and drivers. To calculate long routes, the C5 takes a little longer.

--- Also positive:
- 3,5er jack connector for normal headphones
- Stereo sound output via rear speakers
- Led'Blitz 'for camera (slight noise is noticeable in low light)
- Charging via micro USB and normal plug

--- Some getting used to:
- All connections above
- Nokia startup sound at the beginning
- Loud shutter release

--- My Conclusion:
At first glance, the C5 is a step backwards, but on the second it has more than its exterior reveals! For me, the phone namely a really good compromise. Classically, with sufficient functions and practicable battery power. In addition, I have (subjectively) about the really meaningful Apps (Flat provided), and a good free navigation. The transition from the smartphone was easier than we thought. At the moment I'm really excited by the mobile and thus give this full marks.

**** 1 Supplement: 2 dust grains have made its way down the screen! 1 point deduction.
