Help! (Remastered) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

So, first I have to get rid of what else: Amazon makes a mistake here, mixed up the film with the soundtrack, is irritating. Has also been noted by other reviewers but the error has not been corrected. Anyway.

In any case I am referring to the album, the pure music, not the movie.

In 1980, I was 10 Lenze old, I already knew what is good music, had almost all Beatles-Alps to the original MC and was mighty proud of it. Today I love this 2009 remastered CDs, virtually a must for every responsible fan of popular music.

In spite of my middle-aged cohort, I'm pretty well-versed in the history of 60s rock and pop music. In the late sixties countless classics such as "Let It Bleed" came from the Stones, the Doors first, the first 3 Jimi Hendrix Experience, Who with "Tommy", and Bowie and Pink Floyd were already on the way, not to mention "Blonde on Blonde "Dylan, 1966. But until 1965, the year of the release of this record here," Help ", the music was still relatively naive and unspectacular. All the great heroes had their exploits still to come. Certainly some fans see the different. But in my opinion is "Help" a very special album, the first truly continuous top-notch LP history.

We have 14 songs, including 12 original compositions of Liverpool, and at 34 minutes then a commercial album length. All 3 relevant Members, John, Paul and George have their contributions, which ensures a good balance of the album. Ringo was never the great singer or writer, with all due respect to one of the largest living rock musicians of all time.

The title track and "Yesterday" everyone knows upright-walking West Europeans and should they have in some form in the arsenal. "Ticket to Ride" is my real Fave, was also a single. George has with "I need you" one of his very early and with the first songs for the band. Beautifully! Anyway undervalued, the man I refer to his later solo albums, especially "All Things Must Pass". Other highlights for me are the very fast "The Night Before" by Macca and the final rocking cover-number "Dizzy Miss Lizzy". Macca has delivered a lot of shallow stuff but ignites this song. John is for me still the star of the band and this album. In a few hours he would incidentally birthday and would 74. What would he do today? Adults rock albums and Club Tours? What with Paul? God only knows.

Until 1965, some Stars already ordinary Stuff have delivered, Dylan, Stones, Who, Elvis and The Beatles were probably the biggest acts. But the Fab Four did with this album here an official maturity leap. A year later, in 1966, then came "Revolver", perhaps the best album of the band and it began the psychedelic, best phase of the band. The LPs from "Revolver" are all classics.

But "Help" is and will remain very special. For me now for 34 years, for some 49 years. I would have liked to have been there in 1965. Must have been exciting!
