... Like Clockwork (Audio CD)

Customer Review

This band was for me always a guarantee for raw, dirty music that puts my bones in deep vibrations or gives me the feeling that I would resonate assigned boots and tight jeans somewhere in the desert my hips.
The partially hypnotic music of QOTSA'm downright through the body, forcing these uncontrollable dance to more or less, conjuring me every time a slight smile. QOTSA has developed as it were for me a way of life. That has not changed in all these years, no album was ever bored me and I could not say which one I like more or less. As the name Queens of the Stone Age has lost on ... Like Clockwork, however, remains a mystery to me, because for me it is 15% and 85% QOTSA Various Artists under the leadership of Josh Homme. In other words, it seems to me as an experimental work of Homme, next to Elton John also QOTSA hold on a guest role and all those gentlemen the honor implement Hommes ideas into action, which he wore for years in his notebook around with you.

That the self-realization of the desire "I have made fire" -Homme grows seemingly about himself out, I had suspected already with Them Crooked Vultures. After a few times I had that work through, it was already ausgelatscht as the boots while dancing on my mind has been X years, when I hear QOTSA. Something happened to me mostly in the kind of music that gives me the feeling that the artist had become diligent engineers and would have made her work in the pursuit of progress and perfection for pure mental thing. Since the guitars can still thundering as the rhythm, I lack the "MOJO", this something that breathes the whole life. I just prefer a well-ripened, like also complex wine which offend taste here and there but originates from a tiny vineyard from a particular region, compared to a laboratory product which is able to meet the highest demands of a true gourmets. Such laboratory wine there is actually and it intersects with experts from very good, as well as pieces of music in which amateur analysts to have discovered appreciation in influences from Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nosferatu and other spirits. One should even "have great depth with Pink Floyd ..." in order, "to be able to appreciate and understand ... Like Clockwork." As in this case,

Well, I have no connection with Pink Floyd, but I do not trust me to evaluate music based on what they do to me, and not based on any musical quotations and music historical flashbacks. Anyway, I miss the new QOTSA album as a whole, the brutality, the spice, this rough texture that I associate with the band ever since. It has given me "Keep Your Eyes Peeled" given the promise that awaits me an exciting adventure that put an end to years of waiting.
The new album seems to me for the most part as though Homme including his followers in the glamorous sky the (studio) Technical perfection ascended, where even the last mud remnants and the last wüstige drought has to be in the music of the highest quality - thoughtful, planned to the last detail, refined. The former animalistic, raw power has given way to the insufferable pomp, the choirs, the x-fold superposition of voices and instruments.

It makes a big difference for me, whether I feel music and sinking in it, or if I listen to this, as I am the interpreter tries to explain with hands and feet, how his work has theoretically to the touch. "My God Is The Sun" would be an example of this, with which the band is actually already appeared in a German comedy show and has been there when she was parodying himself. Said piece of music is extremely hasty to me, even before itself opens with me any mood, the chorus rattles stormy across me, but not effective. The song does not take me with you, makes me somehow cold, not shaken my spinal cord, even though he tried to tell me with hands and feet that now actually a solid chunk of the QOTSA massif should be. I do not buy it from the song but. When I heard it the first time, to me any Homme project first came to mind, which I previously knew nothing before I wanted to admit that after several years of silence I hear the first current thing of QOTSA here.

I Appear Missing example, first spread an atmosphere that pleases me well. Especially the bass guitar knows how to satisfy me. During the songs themselves but the whole thing developed once more a pompous show, with more and more voices, guitars, Hall, in Full HD and 7.1 and at all ... On older albums, the power of this band lies in smoky guitar riffs that literally the Earth churn. On ... Like Clockwork has been chosen to a considerable extent a different recipe. Overwhelmed by widespread public address by effects, tooting, Gedaddel and head voices.

I 3 stars awarded in spite of my obvious lack of enthusiasm, is because I think the album is not bad. 3 stars means "not bad", a bad album sounds different. I think it is not good either. Would it be for me, I would not see already the CD are beside me, without feeling the need to put it on again in the drive. That's never happened to me in QOTSA!

With this work, Homme has perhaps erected a monument and carefully polished and inlaid.
Anyway, I'm abgeperlt it, because for me it has the lotus effect. End of my very personal and very subjective assessment of the album.
