A New Flame (Audio CD)

Customer Review

A reissue of a CD is always a chance for the artist, bring out good albums of the past again and lovers of these albums to do you a favor by top skin a couple of bonus tracks that have been lying in the drawer. So for the artist seems to be a simple game.

Unfortunately there's a lot of reissues, which unfortunately does not serve the purpose. Example SUPERTRAMP: it's already the third variant of the old albums - only as Remaster without any bonus material or additional information in the booklet. Too bad. There are certainly good examples: the Universal Deluxe Editions of selected albums (for example, Can not Slow Down by Lionel Richie) bring a lot of bonus material and subsequent texts. Good.

Simply Red, however, makes here in a special way all right. Already the collector's edition of STARS was a prime example. Additional remixes, B-sides, live recordings and live DVD laundry. Great. And now the edition of the album A New Flame.

A New Flame has been published in 1989, it was the third studio album after two very good publications. Simply Red had built up until then a kind of cult status - and even then, the concerts were unique. For me, A New Flame is still the best Simply Red album (and not STARS). Here Mick Hucknall and his colleagues had in cooperation with Stewart Levine perfected the sound a great reflection which they had already produced the first two albums. Absolutely perfect soulpop its best. The songs are still classics, even the album title (Enough, More ...) go to the leg - and in the head. For me, therefore, this edition of A New Flame is indispensable.

On the subject of reissues Simply Red have the edge and can apply as a benchmark for others. PICTURE BOOK is also published. This will warm the collector's heart.
