The graphics are OK, as written by other reviewers so far nothing unusual. On highest detail level slightly older graphics cards come ever stumble (ATI 4890). The music I would not call it a "rotten", it is just boring in the long run. Since the own music in the background helps while the level of the game to zero screwed. The sound effects in the game, however, are useful and just the major power play, where the route is changed to bring, right mood into play.
The mentioned in many reviews rubber band effect is very grueling. One need not even try to defend over the entire race in first place only. It just does not work. The best chance of success, if one half lap to go finished third to about. It then uses his power plays correctly, then the AI will not come fast enough afterwards and what is more important: The AI can no longer exploit the power plays against itself. Very simple solution to this problem would be if you could trigger the power play, without any other moves before a so without having to have a goal.
The AI runs in the first two episodes without major problems forth just behind. From the third episode you could tell that it is more demanding. Towards the end, however, you really what going on: The AI runs quickly off the front and one over and over again gets from power plays, so you no longer fast enough zoom is even with the rubber band effect of the first places. I've seen as a sporting challenge, eventually I will get paid no victory. However, it drives an often infuriating when you go really well and in the end is passed through a stupid incident on the last place. The own abilities are often not rewarded.
Complete Single Player Season incidentally includes 12 episodes, each with 6 races. Compared to online and LAN mode, there are three other modes in single player: Detonator, a race against time in which the power plays are even triggered automatically against. Airstrike, in which attacks on a track of a helicopter (reminiscent of Apache) must escape and thus collect points. Heavenly revenge, a variant of the raid, in which one tries to eliminate the attacking helicopter as soon as possible.
The control with the gamepad, I find not quite succeeded. If you drive just flat, then the cars catch on very quickly to drift. Who is drifting, losing time, especially in race against time drift is not wanted. Leaving aside the stick for the gas only a tiny bit away from the edge, then it goes without drift. A reset button does not exist the way. The worst thing that can happen in the race, is a turner. After a crash you will be allowed to at least get back on the track, but after a spin you have to straighten his vehicle patient, which sometimes costs Felt minutes in the race.
What has struck me true negative: It has far too little settings. Neither the line still in LAN mode you can for example set the number of laps or restrict the classes of cars. Everyone can choose the vehicles that he has unlocked during the single-player season. I drive with my high-end cars in Online races just ahead, while the "beginners" not again see my dust cloud. That can not be the point of it, especially since I do not see Split / Second as a racing game and expect more action in the course of a race. Sure, you can switch the own vehicle which I then made and behold game. I also want to go from and to more than the default 2-3 laps, unfortunately that is not possible. Meanwhile, get in online mode barely Games concluded, so I tried yesterday to eg best time to find a game. And waited ... and waited ... and waited no longer then, but the game ended.
Unfortunately, one has seen enough fast to fancy special effects and the power plays are known for each route. There are too few routes, so too little variety. Many races have to be repeated during the season only in another vehicle. The vehicles are completely destroyed during the race either functional or completely, a damage model in between, there are not. To avoid drift, you have to stick for steering and the gas's always a little correct, but I see that as a challenge. While it is nice that there is a LAN and an online mode, but is a) way too much going on (long waits) and you can b) set far too few options. The own abilities are absolutely not rewarded, a race in first place before the last corner can quickly end in disaster. What I had not yet mentioned: The camera takes one with longer games mistaken. These wobbles namely continuous and is also aimed at their own speed. The faster you go, the more shaking the camera. Initially makes even temper, but later annoys the total.
I regret to say in retrospect that I would not pay again the full price for this game. As a "tasty snack" recommended, but the long-term motivation is missing and only the nice effects make up not a complete game. Three stars because I find little two, but can be no 2.5.
