Morrison Hotel (Audio CD)

Customer Review

After the rather average album "The Soft Parade" the Doors were with "Morrison Hotel" full again at the start; the songwriting is as good as ever, is dispensed with accessories such as mandolin, violin, English horn u. รค., and plays back the pure rock and roll with blues elements, whereby the psychedelic elements now belonged to the past rather.
The opener "Roadhouse Blues" is a best Doors songs ever and quickly evolved into a live standard of the band, as well as the numbers offered always in a double "Peace Frog" and "Blue Sunday": the former is a cool function number and the latter a very nice, almost (but only almost) already schmaltzy ballad.
Very strong are those catchy tunes like "Waiting For The Sun", "You Make Me Real" or "Land Ho!", The wonderfully relaxed tracks "The Spy" (a nice guitar melody and smoothes piano playing of Ray Manzarek) and "Queen Of The Highway ", and the second ballad" Indian Summer ", set in the Doors once more their sense of wonderfully melancholic pieces prove.
The whole thing is resolved with the sad story of "Maggie M'Gill" in the Jim Morrions dream of appearing in small clubs blues singer comes to light (he was never to be a big rock star): "Well, I'm an old blues man ... I've been singin 'the blues, eversince the world began ... "
So: A significant increase compared to the previous and unfortunately the penultimate album one of the greatest bands of all time.
