The Dark Saga (Audio CD)

Customer Review

If I have a good recommendation for "Iced Earth" to output plates today, then this is surely it. The CD is indeed now already turn 10 years old, but it is for me still the best discs of the band. I find it even better than "The Glorious Burden" of 2004. More on this later.
On this CD the band is a not a big risk, giving fans a compromise and great album. So go right at the beginning the team of John Schaffer to the point and cut the enthusiastic metalhead horny numbers around the ears. But the rest of the CD does not need to hide, there are always horny double bass passages and driving riffs of guitar.
You have a whole again clearly praising the singer Matthew Barlow. For he was one of the few in his profession who is also super could sing at higher altitudes without "warble" to. He gives the already hot plate nor the rest of what a real (World Class) makes album. It's really a pity that such an exceptional man no longer here today. Good, "Ripper Owens" also has an ingenious organ, but I still maintain that Barlow with his voice, the man was in Iced Earth.
Now again briefly back to the already mentioned above compared with the last "Iced Earth" album. If you listen to "The Glorious Burden" namely at times without the "Gettysburg" bonus CD, an already aware that the CD actually only better average is. Good "Gettysburg" is patriotic without end, but this CD is almost better than the actual album.
Conclusion: Together with "Knights of the Storm Rider" and their masterpiece "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is this drive to an unqualified recommendations of "Iced Earth" boards should not in any well-stocked collection are missing.!
