Premium kit lens

With the new D3300 I got included this new standard lens in the kit. Even in the few weeks before D5300 Nikon delivered its predecessor. As many reviewers have noted already indeed deserves, in my view its predecessor, this lens is probably quite underestimated. In the new model, there are two changes: First, the filter ring has stopped rotating so that the use of a polarizing filter is supported. Secondly, the lens has the same arresting or anchoring mechanism as me from Nikon 1 series (V1, J1) is known.

The current rate is (250) seems to me to be too high, especially compared with its predecessor. If this gives way, this is a very compact, due to the design (plastic) relatively easy "Always top" lens with good imaging performance. Distortion or blurring at the edges to my eyes at least no.

The autofocus engine is quiet, never disturbing. And the focal length range of 18-55mm (equivalent to 27 to 82.5 mm in small picture) covers many fields of application. Sure, prime lenses are brighter in most cases, but also more expensive and logically less flexible in use. And travel zoom (18-105 or 18-200 mm) in accordance with larger and heavier. All in good time and to its purpose.

An additionally worried UV filter protects the slightly protruding lens and unfortunately a lens hood (52 mm filter thread) not included. Conclusion: For photographers with older models a purchase this everyday objective may well be worth considering.
