SteelSeries Xai Laser Gaming Mouse (video game)

Customer Review

In my previous reviews I have just extensively about the gaming mice from the houses Logitech (Model: G500): reports and Speedlink (Kudos model).
To conclude my series of tests, the SteelSeries Xai is sent to - but again the saying "The Bucket List?"

While the native of Denmark Brand SteelSeries in width may be rather unknown, it belongs among gamers long to the "tools" of the scene:
Purist, even minimalist design is the hallmark of the brand - the clear focus on the on the essentials can be seen Xai at first sight equal to.
Inconspicuous it stands represents - while engage other manufacturers to a race to the futuristic design and ergonomics experiments, the uniform design of Xai affects almost antiquated or "old school" as the inclined gamer would call it in his jargon.

The Design:

However, the Danes were aware of this and were based Designschitt STRINGEND in developing the shooter scene and designed the exterior of the mouse after the minimum-maximum principle: clear and uniform design, thus usable for either hand, low weight and the absence of unnecessary "ballast design" are the result of the development process.
The first handle the mouse and you would like to thank the developers for clear focus on the essentials: The mouse is very good, indeed excellent in hand. The size is ideal for medium and large hands - however for left or right handed!
The entire surface of the mouse is provided with a hand caressing, very soft plastic and thus provides sufficient grip for the palm.
The two main mouse buttons have a perfect set, always comprehensible pressure point. The same applies to the two thumb buttons on the left side of the mouse. These are very easy to reach and have an optimal pressure point!
The have not only theoretical but also practical thought of the left-handed, the designer shows from the fact that it was thought to be positioned as thumb buttons for left-handed on the right side of the mouse. But who now believes that you can use this battle as an additional key for the operation with the right hand in the heat of (shooter), you are wrong. The primary purpose of this button is in fact the equality of left-handed! Following the symmetrical design, the wheel is positioned according to the center and does its job as expected at a high level, ie the screening of the wheel and the pressure point give no cause for complaint.
Noteworthy is at this point that SteelSeries waived in Xai on the possibility of left-right navigation with mouse wheel - because this function anyway no relevant role in Gamer mode, SteelSeries follows here his consistent focus and dispensed with this mouse function.
Immediately below the mouse wheel the dpi switch is positioned. Accessibility and pressure point are selected excellent.
The general processing of the mouse is in my opinion the reference to the mouse market is! The Xai is processed excellent and the materials used reflect the high-end ambitions of Xai in every detail resist. The mouse works simply noble, not only visually but especially haptic!
Who hitherto the unique selling point in this report is missing, it now gets delivered:
Namely, the Xai is probably the only world mouse that can be accessed completely without driver or software installation. This is dadruch possible that the Xai on the bottom (!) Has a small LCD screen, on which all (!) Mouse settings can easily be making.
One can auswhälen multiple profiles and modify individually. DPi settings, mouse acceleration, motion correction, etc. can easily be set and stored in the display according to your own taste - all this is of course also more convenient to set on the Xai software on the monitor - but has the advantage that a) use the mouse mobile and at any time to adapt and b) may change mainly ingame settings on the mouse without having to leave the game!

Accuracy and Gelitvermögen:

The Xai is aligned with just over 100 g weight from the weight perfectly to the requirements in shooter operation - the possibility of additional weight increase is not possible - even here SteelSeries remains faithful and waived this gimmick because it is more marketing for the Danes gag than good pintail Extra's - right you are!
Even in my tests with the Speedlink Kudos and the Logitech G500 I have never felt the need to have had to raise the weight ...
The slipperiness of Xai (has been tested on the Repute Masupad) is my new reference and overtaken even the kudos, though just barely!
Here afford the three Glides on the underside great, and work - contrary to some prophecies of doom - even on a Stoffpad a third-party perfectly!

The pinnacle of every gamer mouse is, of course the practical application and here primarily the accuracy.
What good design, ergonomics and best lubricity when the laser is not precise works and frags by chance, because be obtained willed.
And this is where has befallen something amazing to me: Have I been more than Midsense players (ie DPi range 1000-1500) considered it could only the Xai me in Lowscythe mode (DPI Unbelievable how easily and at what horrendous high precision the Xai has to move, previously a more precise aiming was not have been possible but the Xai impressively shows why the world leaders with rather lower DPi plays rates.
This is not to say conversely that the Xai for High-Sense Players (high DPI rate) is unsuitable - on the contrary - in 1 (!!!) steps can the DPI rate to 5.001 set and could also in the field of brand 2.000er fully convince (everything about it is for Shooter unsuitable!)

Conclusion:

The Xai is indeed more "tool" as a "mouse" - everything seems all of a piece: optics, processing and the precision of a scalpel to make the Xai them an ideal companion in the world of shooters and fulfilled at any time to claim to be a high-end mouse, so the price is justified!
Vulnerabilities not offered the Xai, who looks after the likes complain that the thumb buttons are virtually unusable for links operating for right.

Strong buy recommendation on each of the higher claims instead of just playing has!
