London Calling - 25th Anniversary Edition (2 CDs + DVD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

25 years ago, which appeared after the Rolling Stone "best album of the 80s".
Although the established music magazine may have made a mistake when Date of "London Calling" in the assessment of the album, the critics did this but by no means.
The album is officially a "punk" album the first hour (s). When listen accurately but the genius of the men revealed to Joe Strummer and Mick Jones: What can be found on the CD is Punk and much more.
"Brand New Cadillac", "Right Profile" and "Wrong em Boyo" are flawless Rock-a-Billy-numbers, "Train in Vain" a pop number, "Revolution Rock" and "Guns of Brixton" regae, "Four Horsemen, "" hateful, "Clampdown" pure hard rock, and even lets none of the varied pieces on the CD even a moment for boredom.
So much to the original album, the sound exactly the same as the remastered 1999 edition.
The 2nd CD called "The Vanilla Tapes", and includes demos and alternate takes of songs on the actual "London Calling" album.
These versions are good across the board, but you should not expect too much here, finally, there are demo versions (ie concepts of the later songs), and the sound quality is rather modest.
In addition to the demos still 5 songs that were recorded but can not find on "London Calling" were recorded.
Four of these songs are in an early demo version (with no lyrics). The last "Heart & Mind" is complete, and completed by the band (although not very good).
The third disc digipack is a DVD that contains the exquisite "Last Testament" -doku that The Clash shows at the recording of "London Calling". In addition, the members of the band have their say (the interviews were recorded before Joe Strummer's death).
Of particular interest is likely to be nearly 20-minute video showing the band during the recording (and without comment!).
The last 10 minutes are the three promo videos for "London Calling", "Train in Vain" and "Clampdown" (as they were already to be seen in the great also "The Ultimate Video Collection").
For digipack: there is a great 36-page booklet with the history of each song. Additionally, there is a DIN A3 Foldout with all texts of the album (handwritten).
CONCLUSION: Who can "London Calling" already are in the closet, which can safely pulped his old CD, and trade them in this version.
Everything is managed: the music (what should be clear who has also heard the CD only once), the packaging and all the bonus material.
This digipack should all other artists and record companies to give an example of how "classic" albums have to be processed again.
Recommended for every good CD collection.
