Similar to last Joni Mitchell, the singer, this time accompanied by a large orchestra can. Unfortunately, they do little more than reproduce material known very pleasant and with plenty grĂ¼ndel ends Widescreen violins. What did in "The Look Of Love" a bit too smooth and pleasing therefore came, is good here as well to criticism.
Although the songs, mostly well-known classics, arranged and it shows are presented here again, that's better off in smaller occupation Diana Krall's fascinating timbre, for example on the legendary live album performed flawlessly. Here, as in many other studio albums and so many corners to be ground until a candy-round feel-good sound remains. So the artist is missing at the end of what constitutes good jazz: soul.
Maybe it's too much expectation to seek in her the innovator of jazz, but when it strikes on the spot like this, one wishes her more courage from the previous album.
