Everything is there. Any partition, every nuance, any harmonic, the least touch of sensitivity, the slightest ounce of this unique blend of melancholy and also infectious humor that makes the genius of Satie - and in another genre, do well later that of Monk. A wonder. Nobody to my knowledge has captured the essence of this music with the level of perfection and restraint reached here by Jean-Joël Barbier, and the discreet and efficient remastering of the box (well above previous versions available as single discs : non-existent background noise and harmonic richness incommensurate) completes to make, for my taste, the final version of this work too often overshadowed by its most beautiful - and most famous - successes.
