The song structures are much more demanding than in the previous 3 albums. The sound is multi-faceted and deep. And yet the album is not good after the first impression. It opens up, like the other Rezensienten also written, only after repeated, attentive listening. Then it develops a self-contained, timeless, elegant size and has from all previous Interpol albums most likely the format of a timeless classic. Also, and just because it was omitted an obvious hit single.
4 stars I forgive because I have a feeling that Interpol is still able to further increase and still have a lot of very big song in itself.
A word to the presentation of the CD: I wonder from time to time, whether publishers and bands consciously adopt the Media CD to put on all downloads in the near future. Because the booklet of the album contains nothing but a couple of nice, but ultimately inconsequential pictures while the album including a bonus track on iTunes you get for less money. So there is actually no single reason to buy the CD. Too Bad.
