Have bought the Netgear GS108e as replacement unit for my previous "dumb" Gigabit Switch. First noticed that I could achieve better throughput with the Netgear. This was now 9-10 MB / s, but then, in the remote end. Noticed positive: - Per VLAN functions complying with 802.1Q standard, the device is to use well-adapted various networks via a medium. - Tagging of VLANs works fine with me and other 802.1q devices integrate seamlessly with expectations. - The built-in cable tester has identified me immediately a bad cable as such. - Mitttels management IP address, the switch can be used to find out from where an error occurs. - Configuration Tool in German. - Port mirroring can be a useful feature. - The bandwidth limit on the port works, however, only be adjusted to predetermined values (512 kbit / s - 512 Mbit / s). - An inquiry to the Netgear support (Online) brought an answer within a day.
Noticed Negative: - Unfortunately, I find the included administration tool not very good, because you always have to click to the desired sub-item by being able to make to settings. Yet you find yourself actually quite good right! Unfortunately, it is purely Windows so that one is based rely on this operating system.
My conclusion: The price / performance ratio is definitely true. The device complies with the data given, making it definitely worth a purchase if one wants to use these functions. The Windows configuration tool (available in the System) I do not quite 100% managed, whereby there is a star deduction. The Quality of Service features I have not checked.
