Use it for soldering of cables, wires, diodes, Wide stalls, transistors, capacitors, and everything just so arises. Repairs as well as rebuilding of various circuits (professional control engineer, but they use exclusively private). Nearly every day, 1.5 to 2 hours at temperature.
I have very critical eyed just because of the new items findable negative reviews on the net. But I must say that my WHS 40 D simply doing what it should.
Statements such as poor control behavior or insufficient heating I can not understand completely. With the two supplied tips I previously always got along great.
One is meisselförmig and slightly wider, the other is equipped with a 0.8 mm tip very fine and is well suited for precisely the things which usually shake hands too much, and the eyes are no longer good enough for.
What I can indeed confirm that the sponge is too shallow and the trough for those same is not deep enough.
I have my station at the workplace about 15cm are above the work surface on a small platform, and therefore the sponge is just as useful as I'm more connected to the piston from the bottom and very shallow strip off.
But if I had the station on a level surface to work I would have probably come to mind another solution.
So be it, this little weakness falls little weight, because otherwise the WHS 40D is simply top.
I highly recommend this soldering station in good conscience continue to know, and would also buy at any time.
For the low price you get a super tool that reliably performs its service.
Only 4 out of 5 stars just because of the sponge, and because 4.9 could not be forgiven ;-)
Update: 25/07/2015
What can I say, the station does still what they want. So far there was nothing to complain about. For cleaning I bought in addition to sponge the Weller drycleaner. The sponge I use only when switching between lead-free and leaded solder. For everything in between I'll be perfectly clear with the brass wool.
Oh, on top mounting. Because I changed a lot Solder and often the tips I have no problem with a fixed screw. For all the solder eternally with the same tip it has in fact to every few months to move the grub screw times .... just in case ;-)
