The problem with the software for the HTC One Max is that all elements are inflated. If I take the Max, and compare with the normal brother, it looks like a 150% -copy.
When Sony Xperia Z Ultra, for example, all at the same cm size, and thus pixel-moderate significantly smaller. (Eg fit there on your homescreen icons 6x6, while HTC only 4x4).
Thus, it has missed the whole purpose for me.
For someone with bulky fingers or low vision like this device fit much better.
Otherwise, the hardware is largely top. The speakers are at least as good as the normal-sized HTC One, and the display is wonderful. The camera I use very little, which is why I do not mind Ultra pixels.
The only hardware shortcoming with me (like but be an isolated case): the lid, the HintenmicroSIM and microSD hiding, stands on a corner sometimes 1mm beyond what is unpleasant visually and in his hand.
I am now switched to a Nexus 5 because my Xperia Z Ultra is too unstable, and the Galaxy Note 3 is overloaded with too much software.
