Light and shadow, and much a wasted potential

The Fanta 4, since my teenage years my companion musical development. Every album that have 4 published in the 25 years had what own what lasting, something that shaped the Fantas at the time of publication and uniquely made.

The last outlasting aha effect created the boys not only with the risk MTV unplugged, no with the albums the 4th dimension, Lauschgift, 4:99 things were created here that are going the same ear and the brain, as well as great, sometimes funny stories with the songs accompanied that were tangible.

So my expectations were quite high on the anniversary album - and I am as I write here not even sure whether or in what form the album ever could meet these expectations.

On the plus side is in any case a commitment to the origins of the chant, a love letter to samples and the "old" sound design of earlier, coupled with new ideas and influences.

Musically there's little to complain about here.
After the famous "25" and "and going" expect 11 tracks that could not be more different.
"Today" sets before the typical rap benchmark ever on high - the attitude of popular and what comes from Lauschgift album is here something of admirably captured ...

More Playing tips are definitely "the game is over" and "God is my witness" - a now mandatory, thoughtful, deeper song by Thomas D - the must on every Fanta 4 Album ... also "single" is a grandiose substantive double game that's really fun.

But the rest of the songs are somehow a halfway house.
Musically again staged top (except for the hooks), this rippling content so then and not exude the charm of interesting content for me. It often acts as banal drivel old men who do not know quite what they should talk in their songs ... it is so worn, so empty of content. The choice of transport content is measured on other albums really thin - barely wisdom, hardly really funny things, no social criticism, no irony - nothing interesting ... it seems almost too hard to convey what really seriously without further-bringing.
The musical realization is indeed made high-profile, considered melodic album but something of uncomfortable in the ear - edged hooks will not go into the ear one hears constantly.

I will not say that the album is bad - no, because there are far worse by other artists, but for an anniversary album I had expected something that remains, something that is memorable - as it has so far been any Fanta album for me.

On the other side you have the guys of course credit of applying such courage to make the album as it is now before us.
