Then take care (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Finally the new Mey-CD is here. Yesterday she came by mail and the same in the evening after work, I put it on and was - like any album - inspired. Months before the publication could be read as the title of the new album is. Some have certainly thought that this might be his last album. (What a loss this would be!) But I thought to myself that this is a farewell for his son. As it were a peace pact with destiny. Mey processed his pain, his sorrow. Reinhard Mey is such a great artist. A true poet. In my opinion, it would if we were living in the Middle Ages, called with such a large and fantastic bards such. B. Walter von der Vogelweide in the same breath. Mey it understands like no other, lyrics and melodies so harmoniously to unite with each other, that they go deep into the heart. To write texts that bring a laugh. Songs that run down the spine a shower and a manchesmal so deeply seize the soul that tears flow. I'm a big fan of Mey since my teens (now I am 37). Mey's songs have accompanied me all my life in joy and in sorrow, and often it is his songs spoke as one from the heart.
The new CD is just great again. We all know how dreadful fate the family Mey has taken. His son, Max, is in a persistent vegetative state. Wonderful and emotional was his last album (Mairegen). Full of sadness and pain. The new album shows a change of feelings. Mey has accepted his fate and made peace. This he reflects in his songs.
Each Mey album there are songs that I like particularly well. On this album there are: "Tiergarten", "fiddler", "Then take care", "Let's now quietly going on the helm".
The songs are about ....
1.) "If you're with me." This is certainly a love letter to his wife in which he expressed how important it is that they are with him. All suffering, all misery, all grief, all fears are good when they are with him. A very nice song. And always nice, the declarations of love for his wife.
2.) "If ever music". Here he expresses his love for music, which flows through Mey. The love and fascination with melodies and musical instruments. Nice.
3.) "driving your boat through a sea of candles". This song is for his grandchild. (Mey has become Opa!) This song is a dowry to his grandchild. A succinct in a song wishing and hoping for a good, happy life. That all evil stay away like and love may accompany the child in all his ways. So it is such. As the text "... There are the stones that lie in thy ways be kind, gentle and soft to your feet ..." Just a beautiful song.
4) "Father coat". A beautiful song about the love of the Father. Thought-provoking. (Reminds me a bit - even if lyrics and melody are very different - at 51er captain Both songs have something so deep..) Makes us think and even an ode to all fathers who live or are lägst died.
5.) "Father and Son". This is about a family history. To listen carefully.
6.) "wool" A song about Wolfgang Petry. Listen, closely.
7.) "minstrel". I think it is fantastic that he has given the song that title. A song in which it comes to him and his love for music and what he is. Mey is a gifted singer of songs. The old word "minstrel", as well as "bard" I find suit him better than a thousand singers or songwriters, as Mey is truly a great poet. A very nice song.
8.) "Dear little New Year's Eve". Perhaps you smile, but also to think, if you listen closely. A song that sings the New Year's Eve, which makes itself so pretty and is pushed into the corner by loud banging and Gekrache and consumerism and excessive party mood.
9) "Old Friend". An ode to the wine.
10.) "The handkerchief". A sweet song that once praised the usefulness of handkerchiefs. Even on such seemingly mundane things can Mey make a great song whose text conceals truth and all of us responds. Do not we need every now and then a handkerchief to sob?
11.) "Tiergarten". A wonderful song. I'm a big animal lover and I plant every year on my balcony certain flowers, so that bees, bumblebee, butterflies and Co. feel. What is truly enchanting, the children's choir is the end, when it says: ... "We love our people, we love our people, which allows us to live in peace and in the lap of luxury here ...!" A paean to nature and God's wonderful creation.
12) "Good cows come in the heavens". A cheerful song. A typical funny song of Mey.
13.) "barrettes and bows and ribbons." A declaration of love for his daughter. Always nice that Mey his children and his wife immortalized in his songs. Toll!
From song 14 now come the jewels of the album.
14) "Then machs well". From the first time they hear crying. This song is for Max (his son, who is since a few years in a vegetative state). Reminiscent of "dragon's blood" from the album "May rain". A very sad song. He tells how he picked his son the last time from the station and how his son was taciturn but manchesmal. Mey calls parents monologue. Then he talks about the embrace. "... I had to stretch a bit, he stoop a little." In the last verse he sings it, he still when his son only once could pick up at the station, only could embrace him again, his duffel bag only could wear again, he would do anything, so he could take him in due receipt. He wanted to wait in the storm to him, if only once, only once could pick him up at the station. Between each verse sounded very delicate - almost acting Asia - tones. A deeper inter-song that I could not help crying. A song about the deep love of a father to his son, who will never wake up. (Welch heavy cross is Mey and his family have been imposed -. May God help him and his family to carry this heavy cross !!).
15.) "Let's now quietly going on the helm". This song is also for his son Max. It seems as if he had accepted the fate of fate and is ready to let go of his son. It seems when he sings "... You're safe, Brother of Sleep will be a good pilot ..." or "It's not the grim reaper, it not komnmt an enemy, is it his cup seems too bitter, a friend who's well intentioned towards you ... "Mey is willing to let go of his son. The way that we all once tread when Brother of Sleep brings us home. An equally profound melancholy-wonderful work, like the previous one, which moves you to tears. (I have to cry with such texts, is perhaps also because I am a woman.)
16) "It is time" A very, very nice song. It's an anti-war song that in the category of songs, "No, my sons, I do not give" or "Kai" fits.
17) "Sally". Reinhard Mey sings in Italian. (Unfortunately, I do not understand the text.'ll Look that I'll translate it. Nevertheless, Reinhard Mey in another language (in French we know him) fantastic!
Truly Mey is and remains, the largest Songwriter, the greatest poet of our time. Another great album. His songs give so much. Let one think, laugh a cry a, a be grateful for those words. No other songwriter plays that I had so manchesmal cry.
I hope Mey still makes a lot of years of music and our hearts, our souls take and pleased.
Thank you very much, dear Reinhard Mey and God's blessings for you and your family - and especially for Max!
