I love the Bard of Astaffort and I am a long time with great interest his musical journey where blues and Dylan "touch" are everywhere. But there, big disappointment from the first listen probably because "Cabrel sings Dylan" it could only be great! RAS on the choice of songs that represent a good mix of tubes and songs to discover. RAS on the clean and efficient orchestration. For translation kills against the poetry of Dylan ("everything ends there, baby blue" !!!). Everything appears flat. We do not believe even Cabrel seems to have trouble believing it in his singing. Brief aside one or two pieces (Blind Willie McTell, for example) is bored stiff even if the whole is neat and appeal to those who do not know Dylan (yes! Yes! There and I know several ...). Paralyzed by the challenge and the desire to do well the student remained too academic to approach the teacher. Shame, shame! Finally it made me want to listen to the vinyl "Aufray sings Dylan" in 1965 (convincing words of Pierre Delanoë, compelling and convincing interpretation of Hughes Aufray) which remains in my ears the only successful adaptation of Dylan's works in French. Which is not bad!
