Baldwin IV of Jerusalem: The Leper King (Pocket)

Customer Review

The story of a misunderstood figure who deserves to have more attention from the general public. Like others I suppose, I was led to this book after seeing the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" and have been seized by the character of Baldwin IV of Jerusalem. This book tells the true story - close to that of the film, yes, but all the same shades are worth noting. It is a historical book, which often quotes his sources, but still avoids being indigestible, worn by a pretty pen that beautifully describes the context of the time. Only flaw? This is an umpteenth re-release and the information is not "new"; History, however, difficult to have something new every decade, does not discover texts that often.
I would have learned a lot about the Crusades, relationships not always as imagined between Christians and Muslims of the time, kingdoms, kings, men ... and a character I very quickly learned to admire and love, and whose hard life often inspire me courage every day.
