Too Old to Rock 'n Roll, [REMASTERED] [Original Recording Remastered] (Audio CD)

Customer Review

In 1976, released by Chrysalis Records concept album "Too Old To Rock 'n Roll, Too Young To Die" was originally conceived as a stage play, the realization failed but, as was the case as a soundtrack planned for own movie "War Child", the Finance what the mastermind of the British cult rock band Jethro Tull then pretty pitting.
Because of this history, the album differs stylistically from other Tull works of that time.
David Palmer, who had been scheduled for the implementation of the material on stage, contributed string arrangements and a saxophone part.
With John Glascock on bass guitar, John Evans on piano, Martin Barre on electric guitar, Barriemore Barlow on drums and the sole composer and leader of the troop, Ian Anderson on the obligatory flute, acoustic guitar, the harmonica and the Micro, the band was once again occupied outstanding.
For me this work is not one of the highlights in the band's history.
That the rock appeal was reduced somewhat, the instrumentation is more restrained, which in parts gives the album an acoustic note, is not the issue.
It is mainly the quality of the melody, but also the quirky in some respects, the slight hint of kitsch, which slows the enthusiasm with me.
Certainly much is intended that the story but is about an aging, unruly Rockstar and turns in his life.
It is felt that Anderson Humor having housed, which should also be reproduced acoustically.
Still with me the impression that Anderson not sparkled with ideas and (even if certainly not was) used material that he had sorted out and now, quickly pressed for time in new songs.
Much is not as prepared, as usual, also lacks something in depth.
It may be that all this was intended exactly me it is just not so, so that the album for me, keep in spite of some strengths, such as with the successor "Songs From The Wood" or the older "Thick As A Brick" by no means can.
The course does not change the fact that it is still a whole is good, pleasing rock music.

The sound quality is, just for this time, very good, you could also hear the old record clearly.
The first CD releases were terrible, unkind digitized, no comparison with vinyl.
All the more pleasing, then, is that the remastered CD in 2002 brought significant improvement in sound and to convince two more interesting bonus tracks bietet.Auch liner notes and the presentation of the story as a comic, so you sure this CD
can recommend.
The remaster sounds fresher, more transparent and has good momentum at high modulation without distortion.
Nothing to complain about, good job!
