Good Blu Ray Players, perfect SMART Hub Features

Samsung BD-F6500 / EN Blu-ray player (HDMI, DLNA, WiFi, Smart Hub, USB 2.0) (Electronics)

Customer Review

First of all, I have the Samsung BD-F6500 bought in first line for the SMART Hub features - real Blu Ray / DVD cineastes may therefore forgive one or other negligence in this area myself.

My criteria for BD-F6500 were among others
- SMART Hub with Browser, Youtube, Putpat, Vimeo, etc. vTuner
- Apps for all three major streaming services max cathedrals, Watch Ever u LOVEFiLM (to my knowledge the only Blu Ray player with these apps !!!).
- DLNA player with support for MKV (Warning, no coils possible with DLNA - See update below !!)
- Blu Ray Features: 3D & Profile 5.0
- Wifi
- Lower to medium Preissegement

Due to the current supply shortages over the Christmas period I have worried the players in the local electronics store. Terminal u. Thanks build dual-core processor and more appealing, modern menu navigation for older semesters without problems does nu. Even a firmware update (if necessary) performed at the very beginning. Only the (mandatory) consent, information about Samsung SMART Hub to provide consumers, interferes with the good first impression a bit.

Smaller prints there are also due to the appearance, weight and feel no effect really graceful. At least one display is present and the touch panel keys on the upper right side of the lid perform their duties without complaint. Negative, the buttons are not illuminated and in the TV rack you have blind "tap" when no light falls on it.

Nice detail, has to a Samsung TV you can use the remote control for both devices. Namely, (out-of-the-box for connection) without between TV and Blu Ray player back and forth to switch the TV record all actions and are those which are not intended for him to continue on the BD-F6500. Simple but awesome !!

+ DVD / Blu Ray

Skip to first DVD / Blu Ray, here is the Samsung BD-F6500 does not disappoint. 3D profile and 5.0 are supported. Color is fed crisp u. Ton. In the second of Samsung allows not only the unadulterated Bitream issue but also a downmix of DTS signal to stereo, important for older TV without interposed Reciever!
Between switching on or inserting the disc and movie enjoyment pass barely 10 seconds ... so fast I have not seen before!

DVDs are output at 1080p and look for my taste from excellent. Various display modes (for example, 4: 3 material to fill the screen on a 16: 9 TV display) complete the picture. Frankly I experience with the players my dusty DVD collection almost new, Buena Vista Social Club or Henry Poole - shine pursued by happiness in a whole new sheen.

However, It should be mentioned also the much discussed Geräuschegel. The engine of my BD-F6500 hums audibly when reading, even when playing one hears then only a (very) quiet "rattle" or "noise" of the disc. To my mind absolutely okay (I'm very audiophil what sounds HiFi As for components), even in quiet movie scenes (at a distance of about 2 meters) barely perceptible but (unfortunately) maybe not completely silent.
If the Samsung ie is clearly audible even at moderate volume levels still should consider an exchange into account, then is definitely something wrong!

+ SMART Hub 2013

Now the supreme discipline in my eyes, the SMART Hub features. For me it was very important that the player supports both max cathedrals and Watch Ever and LOVEFiLM. This master of the BD-F6500 with flying colors, though a small mistake: at LOVEFiLM be a maximum of 20 films from the list displayed. Unfortunately, this seems to be a general restriction on the Apps from LG and Samsung LCDs it is the same.

Also available are Internet Browser, Apps for Yotube, Vimeo, vTuner and more. Thanks to dual-core processor at a decent speed, even if it also could still go a bit ragged :-)

Screen mirroring and Samsung's own online video library are also supported.

DLNA function smoothly, it was via Twonky no MKV file which could not be play.

+ Conclusion

For my bedroom of the Samsung BD-F6500 is a stroke of luck, he replaced there via integrated WLAN previous Media (Boxee Box) and Blu Ray player (PS3).

For someone who gets along with no grid connection or SMART Hub features though it might still be alternatives that are completely silent and a ticking-quality. For all other Samsung is recommended without exception, therefore, of my full 5 stars.

A note nor the type of designation, with the suffix "EN" has the player an optical audio output during "ZF" Digital Coaxial means.

+ Update 15/01/2014

In a nutshell, I am still very excited and will probably order another device for the living room :-)

What I have noticed so:

- The above-mentioned fast start has been confirmed in Chip.de test: start time less than 8 sec u so currently the fastest Blu Ray Player.

- On demand at Lovefilm.de the Watchlist was confirmed with a maximum of 20 titles as a bug to be fixed ie the complete Watchlist visible

- In the setting interface "system" there is an option "Quick Start" by itself (according to Help) can be activated at a somewhat higher power consumption higher speed. Apparently "Overclocking" for the already fixed player - Chapeau!

- A MKV with DTS sound is unfortunately rendered with strong audio dropouts, everyone else does. Will I analyze in more detail.

+ Update 16/03/2014
+++++++++++++++++++

- A thick minus point is I unfortunately noticed that even a star deduction (formerly 5 Stars) leads: When DLNA streaming NOT forward / rewind is possible. The only option is to jump with the cursor keys (15) second intervals. Apparently this is also from Samsung so desired :-( files via USB on the other hand can be quite normal play or wound!
